If I bought a new book every time I bought a gun, my house would sink.
Those two are beautiful! Great photo too.I can't believe what people pay for those old blocky checkered goncalo alves grips. Used to be that we threw them into the parts box as soon as we got the gun home and could replace them with something that was actually comfortable.

As far as I can tell mine does not have the "M" stamp anywhere, so I expect it hasn't been altered. Does anyone know what exactly the change was and why?I love the S&W 686 no-dash. I know they had a recall on it. Have you checked to see if the gun's been altered? It should be visible on the part of the frame visible when you open the cylinder. It should have an "M" stamp if it's been altered. Too bad you didn't get the wood grips in the deal. Mine are beautiful. I've got two 686s and I haven't shot either one!

Here's one of my 686s with my Ruger Security-Six, which I love more than any .357 I've ever used. It's like a
feather compared to my 686! I think I'd prefer a 4-inch over my 6-inch, but if it's a Security-Six, I'll take a 6-inch
every time.

And this is my 686 no-dash.
Mine has not be modified based on the Recall Document that ColtPythonElite posted. Thanks for posting the information.
So, should I have mine done, or leave it stock? I'm using it just for fun. It functions perfectly as is.
Does someone clean them for you? Mine gets filthy each time I shoot it.Two 686's and haven't shot either one?...No way....I have two 686's, have shot thousands and have never cleaned either one....lol
Nope. I leave them filthy.Does someone clean them for you? Mine gets filthy each time I shoot it.
Ewe!Nope. I leave them filthy.
I have to say that my S&W 686 is one of the most dirty guns I own. It could be the powder I'm using, (Alliant Blue Dot powder) or maybe it is the gun? Anyone have a magnum powder they find cleaner than Blue Dot?I am proud of my dirty guns....lol
Nope. I leave them filthy.
