Saw the first rubs of the season today in the thick creek bottom behind the lakehouse. They were all fresh. Sumac and cedar saplings. The cedar was about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and stripped. Also two scrapes that had been worked since the rain yesterday. (Monday, Oct 15th)

New buck on one of the deercams making a total of four in the area. two are 1 1/2 year olds, two others are 2 1/2. Haven't seen any dominant bucks but did find a very large scrape across the creek inside a woodline on a long abandoned and overgrown road. It had been worked since the rain. I moved a deercam over to cover it. Hope to get a few shots of the traffic. Posting photos of the deer with neighbors and asking them NOT to shoot these bucks for another year. They let a guest shoot a pair of beautiful 1 1/2 year old bucks last year that had great genetics.

I sprayed the scrapes with a little buck scent and reloaded the feeders.

Had to take a Moultrie gamecam back that had an indecipherable operating system- unlike the two different operating systems on the other two Moultries. Wish I was running three cams instead of two. Or even four.

Some dogs showing up for the third year on cam. I may be shooting them this year. I've seen them run deer too many years in a row. One of them is the leader with a good nose, the others just follow. Hated to shoot a dog with a collar but they all seem uncollared now. Closest houses that they might belong to are a half mile away. Might NOT shoot them as well.

Going to try and rattle up one of the dominant bucks that I haven't seen since last year. They ought to be monsters by now. One of them was a big six point on one side last year- the other side stunted because he tore it off at the base fighting late two years ago. With matching antlers he would have been in the 150s last year. Two more big bucks nearly the same size around if they made it through the year.
