Have the values on Model 10s and 15s really climbed that much the past 6 months? I've been sort-of hunting one for months. A year ago, I passed on a deal when the pawn shop owner wouldn't take $225 cash OTD (all I had in my pocket) on a $250 sticker. Now, I'm kicking myself for not hocking an extra hammer or something.

I was bidding on a pretty beat-up Model 15 on auctionarms. Pictures looked pretty rough; I cut myself off at the $200 mark, because I would have to add sales tax, S&H, and FFL. This gun is no where near what I saw locally, and it's now at $250.

Other model 10s and 15s are knocking onthe $400 mark.

Am I going to have to adjust my price point higher to get a good used .38 range gun?

Just traded a pristine Model 10-5 for a Leupold VX-II 3x9 50mm scope and $50. Blued w/ original grips, 4" thin barrel, pinned.

Scope was used, but in virtually new condtion. I'd price it at $275-$300 as is...

So I guess I sold it for about $325 trade-value...

Good model 10's and pre-10s have been about $300 for the last two years or so when you find a good deal. The days of looking at them at guns shows row upon row for $175 are long gun - those were the '90s. I know, it's hard to figure it when you are used to them being so cheap. Sounds like that pawn shop last summer was a "buy" if it was in very good shape.

15's pull about $75 or more than a 10, so $350 to $400 for them is a good price.

These are the prices you will find on Gunbroker, in internet classifieds, etc. Good deals are harder to find and you have to look in less obvious places, like local classifieds, etc.

Purchased a 10 for 269.00 and a 15 for 299.00 2 months ago, both guns were about 95%. I'm quite please about the price since the 10 shoots like a million dollars. This same dealer had model 10 "shooters" for 199.00, might have to grab one of those before they're gone.

JG sales has a bunch of bobbed hammer model 64s.

How hard is it to have a 'smith replace a hammer? Is that something the average guy can do, or does it take a Smith smith to do it? Anyone want to venture a guess on price for a new hammer & fitting job?

There has been a storm surge on demand for pre lock Smiths. Maybe some new wave of boycotting the new crap or something but it has sent older Smiths into the stratosphere.

Word of advice: Ruger Six Series while they are still cheap because they are next on the dockett for the up and coming overpriced gun.

Just bought a 10-2 snubbie NIB with all paper work and the original sales ticket. The sales ticket said it sold for $119.50, oh almost forgot it's from 1978 did I say New In Box Unfired. Paid $450

In my area Model 10's have went from $200-230 range to $275-325 price range in the last 18 months.

I just bought a Model 10-6 in used but good condition for $279 OTD at the local pawn/gunshop.
