It sounds good to me

I paid more than that for a used one Serial # JRD14XX

I've had a number of SA's, Kimbers and so forth...this is my favorite.

And this lifetime warranty is one you can count on. If you ever need it.

Good deal. They sell them around here for $725. I ended up instead putting that and $350 more for a brand new, in the box, Colt Mark IV stainless, Government Model. If you lived in Masswholechusetts and loved Colts you'd understand! :D (You can't buy new ones here anymore).

Sounds pretty good to me. I paid $660 + tax for this one, last spring:

25 yards rapid fire.

Are these S&W 1911's good to go right out of the box?

To me, the poll regarding 1911's needing a little "tuning" was not encouraging.
When I bought my Glock, I took it out of the box and cleaned it, then it was off to the range. No muss/no fuss. That's what I want my 1911 to be like. Just a pipe-dream~~or can I find one like that? I hear the new Colts are a safe (well, OK) bet, but I like the external extractor of the S&W's. Hummm. I also like that Wilson KZ.
Man, my wife is RIGHT! I AM a fish! I'm ALWAYS up for a new firearm.

Ah well, there are WORSE things to be "hooked" on.

My SW1911 was fine right out of the box.
Cleaned it when I got it, and went to the range.
(my Walther P99 was also trouble-free out of the box)

Just got back from the range.
All HP ammo that I brought cycled & functioned well out of my Sw1911.
Corbon 200, 230
Gold Dot 230, 200 +P
Golden Sabre 230, 185+P

For practice, I've been using CCI Blazer 230. I have not tried semi-wads or LRN yet.
