I was at a local gun show this weekend looking for an Ak which I found when I came across this. It was being offered by a local shop that I'm well known in when I saw this. I'm usually not a fan ob bobbed/hammerless revolvers but I liked the look of this one. It fit my hand nicely and when I checked the trigger out it was so smooth that I had to buy it. I put in on layaway and will pick it up this coming payday. Don't know much about it yet, but I will once I get it home. It does have what I think is the original owners name engraved on the barrel which I'm not that keen on, but with the trigger it has I'm willing to overlook that. Plus the price was right at $385. So, did I do good?

I'm no expert, but I would say you did well. This looks like a fantastic carry piece.

3" barrel? I can see that the barrel is pinned, I am guessing that the cylinders recessed? All three are desriable things. The name on the barrel is intreresting. What dose it say? I just paid $450 for one with out the rubber grip and the ingraving. Mine is not a P&R gun though. I plan on carrying mine a bit.

It appears to say " Lamed Lounge" and the name is "Stuart J Skversky" . I'll be sure once I pick it up this Friday. Mine will also be carried, that's plus the sweet trigger is why I wasn't to concerned about the engraving :)

I'm not a fan of bobbed hammers either. Just seems wrong somehow. It is a nice piece besides that, though. Wonder what the Lamed Lounge is?

Not bad. There's nothing wrong with a lil' bob'd snubby. :)

Is it just a bobbed hammer, or is there still a DA notch?

I'd say you got an good price, but not a screaming deal. That gun, in pristine condition would have been worth a good deal more. Accounting for depreciation due to the inscription, and what look like scratches in finish, I'd say you did well.
Since it's a stainless gun, you may be able to polish out most if not all of the scratches and bring the finish back.

Oh, and a 3" Model 65 is one of my grail guns BTW. Congrats on a seriously awesome piece of steel!

I did a bobbed hammer on a 65 I had about 15 years ago.It was a Mass, police turn in. Under the grip it was stamped on the frame, property of Mass, state police,
Someone had worked on the action, and just by chance, I had it in single action, and pushed the hammer forward.and sure enough,it let go.the guy I got it from.said some guy had worked on it,,well I made it double action only.I sold it bak to the guy I got it from..I wish i still had that pistol..It only had holster wear,

You sure it don't say Cameo Lounge? It be interesting to know the story behind it.

I'm picking it up Friday, once I have it I'll post what it says and I'll see if my buddy at the shop can give me any more history on it. Which I'll post here........

Picked it up today, it is one sweet gun. I've got some pictures I took today. The gun is magna ported which I forgot to mention, and the engraving on the barrel actually says "Cameo Lounge" and I was dead on on the name "Stuart J. Skversky". Here are some pic's I too.....

I'll post a range report as soon as I make it to the range.

I'm not a big fan of bobbed hammers and D/A-only. But if you like it, that's the important thing. You can buff up the finish with some Scotch-Brite pads and some Flitz or Simichrome metal polish. S&W stainless guns come from the factory with some pretty scratchy finishes; but they can be cleaned up with little effort if looks are important to you.

The 65 is one of the classic beauties of the S&W line of revolvers. I have a great love for the Model 13 and would like to land a mint 13 with wood grips. In my opinion, the 13 should be a perpetual offering by S&W at a reasonable price. I believe they're the perfect home defense handgun and the perfect "first" handgun for people (men and women) contemplating a handgun purchase. The gun's action, power, accuracy and beauty make it a perfect buy. For home defense, it can tote .38 Special and for outdoor use and cross country travel, it can house .357 mags.

Anyway, you've got a great gun. Enjoy shooting it!
