Hey, does anyone have any experience with the Smith & Wesson auto loaders. I believe it is the 1012 and the 1020. I'm thinking about a semi auto and am wondering if they should make my list to consider. Here is what I have so far:

Benelli
Beretta
Winchester
Remington
Browning

I've excluded the Mossberg. Don't know why, I just don't really like them. Any comments on the S&W or the list?

A little of everything. I shoot skeet and dove mostly, but I may do some additional bird hunting. I'm not concerned about becoming an expert at clay games. I just like having fun.

If the gun fits shoot it well!

There is only one model Shotgun I tell people who ask to stay away from,

S&W is not it! and I can not look you in the eye to tell you which. so don't ask me here!

Beyond that, when it comes to shooting sports, we all have a preferrence in, type, make, model or "That's just way to COOL"!

The one model I would say to stay away from has so many horror stories about many faults and breakdowns. One of the few guns around, that some of minor breakdowns you find the broken parts throw then away, the gun is now fixed!

The S&W 1000 series, haven't heard a lot about, if it is the same auto that S&W has had out for 20+ years, Why not? that is why not try it? The older model is not a bad design.

I think these are the new ones made in Turkey at the "S&W plant".

I haven't seen one, other than at shows and haven't seen any "real" reviews on them yet.

From what I've read, they are a copy of a Berretta 303, if they are a good copy, that's a great thing. If they're a bad copy.......well, time will tell.

If it is one of the "new" ones, have you seen it "in person"???

I have a Remington 11 87 Premier that I've put a couple of thousand rounds through. I bought it at Walmart about ten years ago. I just started putting in more time at my local shotgun range in trap, skeet, and sporting clays. I haven't had any major problems with it so far. Every week I'll shoot about 300 rds through it. I've seen a few negative reviews of the 11 87 but from what I've learned the majority of malfunctions are attributed to worn or broken rubber o rings on the magazine tube. These rubber o rings aren't that expensive and if you change them out every 900 rds or so and clean the carbon off the magazine tube as well you won't see any problems with this shotgun. I'll probably put another 3000 rds through this shotgun before the year is through. I'll have a much better idea by then as far as this guns reliability is concerned.

I saw one of the new S&W autoloaders being made in Turkey selling for $800. I wasn't impressed. For that price you can buy a better Beretta or Browning.

I just

I just bought the S&W 1020 for $600. I still haven't shot it or otherwise read a review but it seemed like a good gun. I still have a few days of squirrel and rabbit hunting ahead of me to try it out. I will give a field review later.
