17's are awesome

Here is my 17 (no dash) I picked up in a low drag high speed gun store for way under $200.00

Guess they did not know what they had and it looked lonely surrounded by all that plastic. Great shooter. Love the gun.

The K-22s are excellent guns known for their accuracy. They are very good for new shooters to learn sight picture, trigger control, etc. They are also very satisfying for target shooters, plinkers, or small game hunters.

One thing to be aware of is that the K-22 may have tight cylinder chambers, which can make insertion and extraction difficult. The tight chambers are one reason it shoots so well. Generally, they will loosen up a bit with usage and cleaning. Certain kinds of ammo may be more or less problematic.

Finally have had time to post a couple pics of the new 22's. Not the best pics, but here they are.

From top to bottom.....17-3, 18-4, 34-1, 617-6...

Nooooo! That is such a screaming deal it makes my hear hurt! Please tell me the $200 you paid for that was 1985 dollars and not recently. Low drag, high speed? Sounds more to me like L/D. I'd be absolutely soaring if I could find that for 2 bills. -C

That's a GREAT looking family you got there saensrich. The prices I'm seeing suggest you paid top dollar but then again the guns are in top dollar condition. And as the years pass the little extra you paid will seem like nothing. In the meantime you'll get some fantastic results from these guns.

For my own 17 the chambers are tight enough that I now take a .22 cleaning brush on a short handle along with me to the range. If the rounds become sticky to insert and properly seat or sticky to eject I just push the brush through the cylinder chambers a couple of times per chamber and I'm good to go again. You may want to include the same thing. Oh, and I keep mine in a tube that is capped at both ends so it doesn't pick up grit from the gear bag that will scratch the chamber walls.

I find that most of the loose packed bulk ammo needs a firm push to seat the cases. Boxed ammo in the little carriers seems to be of higher quality control and generally slides in with just a light rub to seat correctly. And the boxed ammo SHOULD be a little more accurate because the bullets don't get bent out of shape and loose in the casing crimp.

I also fitted my own 17 with a Wolff K frame spring kit and used the lightest rebound spring which I then cut off an extra coil. For me this has proven to be very reliable and produces a lighter trigger pull in DA that is more like a center fire K frame gun. And the lighter springs also lightens up the SA trigger to where it's almost like thought control. For the slight cost of them compared to the guns I'd recommend you give a kit or two a try.

Sorry, 2011 dollars. It's a great shooter.
