Smith & Wesson rifle?? any good??

Hi does anyone own or know anything about a S&W model 1500 bolt action rifle? I found one in .223 and am looking for a p'dog gun that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Any info is appreciated. Thanks Mac

outstanding bolt design, and removal process, bbl made by thompson/center, it sounds like a good deal, but I don't have any experience with it, or it's accuracy.

I believe the S&W 1500 rifles were made by Howa. Good simple design, quality materials and workmanship. They are currently sold as Howa brand and as Weatherby Vanguard.

Thanks guys, that is kinda what I thought, but was unsure. So it has to be an older model to be a S&W as the newer ones are Howa and Weatherby. The hunt for a p'dog gun continues. Thanks

I traded into one back around 1982. Shot okay, but no better than any of my sub-MOA pets, so I let it go. Favorable memory of it, though.
