The pistol minus the slide, spring, and barrel is used like a lower in an AR15. The Mechtech has its own 16" barrel. The pistol is locked into the CCU using the regular slide stop pin. So yes, there are two barrels involved.

I thought about going the MechTech route for my Glocks but bought Just Right Carbine instead because by swapping out the modular magwell/bolt/barrel, I could use Glock magazines and change calibers to 9mm/40S&W/45ACP and not have to use a "donor" pistol frame.
