....yeah, you read that right, I finally bought an AR, yesterday. A RRA 16" Middy A4, to be exact. Sold my Mosin, a BP revolver, and my WASR, plus a bit of change, but I finally had the money and the will to buy it--and dang, am I excited. Haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet (no time, and until payday, no money ) and don't have rear irons/a sight (yet), but mmmmm, is she purty to look at. I got this one for $850 (plus tax), with 20 rounds thrown in for good measure, brand new in the box. What y'all think of that one?

And, the part everyone waits for....pictures!

The issue is that until payday come Friday, I have $30 to live on. No matter how hella badly I want that carry handle, I like survival better--food ain't free. :(

Nope, the case came with it. Has to be broken down to fit, but who cares?--now I have a case for every rifle I own, used to have more rifles than cases!

I have an Entry Tactical & a NM, great rifles, both in accuracy and dependability.

RRA is worth every penny you paid for it.

Raman noodles are about $0.14, Mac'n Cheese is 5 boxes for $1, a could lbs of ground beef is $2... go cheap, get more guns !

I eat that food while in college as an after effect of my gun habit...I'd like to eat semi-healthy (read: more tasty) than that while on break!

Congratulations! Good lookin rifle!

Gonna keep her as a Flattop, gonna scope her? ...or is there a handle in the future?

Congrats! Nice lookin gun!

I like the rifle, but I really like the case...

Any idea where to find a case like that? My AR only came with cardboard.

Good job Eighball.
If you are like me, you are going to really love the AR-15. I really thought there was no way that I was going to like the EBR (I was a Garand man, steel and wood), but I now have 3 AR's and I gotta say they are fun to shoot. A very fine rifle indeed.

Why is this an "either/or" question, is my response :D There's a reason it's a flattop, and versatility is that reason.

Whatcha gonna do in way of rear sight? They ain't exactly cheap either but they do help in the old bullet/directional theory thing.
Nice way of putting that  A buddy will let me borrow some flavor of decent 2-7x30 w/rings until I can get something of my own; however, being me, I will probably have a carry handle on it until I can get the cash for the optical sight I would think is absolutely perfect for the weapon--i.e. several hundred more, probably next year. Thanks for the compliments!

That case came with the thing. Maybe talk to RRA, and you can get one, or look on gunbroker.com. Didn't see that type of case for sale on RRA's website, though.

Yeah, that sounds about how it's getting to be for me. Though, I have to ask (and sorry to hijack my own thread a bit), but where can you get "bulk" ammo for decently cheap? I would need X<1,000 rounds of reloadable brass, because I'll just keep the brass and reload it later, once I get dies/primers/powder/bullets. Though, in the 1000 round case, it's cheaper to feed my M1 Carbine nowadays :what:

Can't help ya there. I got into the EBR thing just, and I mean just, before the ammo price went through the roof.
I got a couple K of some great Guatemalan stuff and some Radway Green. Still have most of that boxed up, hoarding. I picked up 1K of LC brass from the range and about 2K of some S&B and others (I am reloading the LC now). But even the good brass left lying around had dried up the last couple of months.
Hold on to the rifle though, with the price this high, in a year or so (or when Iraq is taken over by the Iraqis) the price is going to nosedive and get affordable again.
Then it will be time to extend credit and hoard:evil:

Now start saving for the next one. You can't have just one. Not allowed.
No kidding. Now, I want a "dedicated coyote" version, and I've owned mine for 3 days :banghead:
Never one to follow my own course, I bought my first AR today too. RRA Entry tactical. You have any trouble putting yours together?
Align holes at front, push pin through. Snap shut, push second pin through. Front pin is a little stiff, though, I worked it without the upper in once or twice to get the thing to move.
