I am just looking to make some target rounds for my .45ACP 1911, have all the components, but have haven't been at the reloading bench in over 4 months.

None of my reloading manuals have any recipes that seem to match up with my components properly.

I know I need to keep my oal b/w 1.2" and 1.275"

I think I was loading barrys 200 grain swc tmj, over 5.9 grains of wincheter 231, at an overall length of 1.225"....

Does this seem reasonable, or at least not too hot?

I do not need undying accuracy, just want a decent target round that is not too hot.... Am I in the safe zone with this load?

Did you mean Berry's? Those are plated bullets. At 5.9 grs of W231 I would think that would be near max if not over it.

That sounds a bit hot to me too. I shoot 200gr Rainier round nose copper washed over 4.7gr of WW231 at 1.250" OAL. It works well for me, is 2.5" at 25m accurate, and is oh-so-easy on the recoil - from my 1911, it very much feels like shooting 9mm.

I don't compete so I don't have to worry about Power Factors, just something that cycles the slide... which this does, and functions very reliably.

I'm going to refrain from stating a max load because I can't recall off-hand, but to me, 5.9gr sounds like you are probably pushing the high end, if not well past it. Just my $.02

I load 200 gr SWC with 5.2 grs of 231. Makes a good range load for me.
