So I've got a year...

I think the idea is to bog the NRA down in lawsuits and force them to spend our money fighting these bogus laws thus weakening our lobbying power. After all it's our money being spent on BOTH sides of the lawsuits as tax payers funding the govt and as NRA members. There will be more to come I'm sure. These politicians are not idiots. They know how to eliminate their opponents and that is through their wallets.

How utterly pointless... What are NY lawmakers thinking? Obviously anyone who would use a weapon to commit a crime will ignore the new law…... It will however succeed in making thousands of otherwise law abiding citizens "criminals."

I'm not terribly sanguine about the prospect that our ultimate salvation will lay in the courts and legislative bodies.

Organizing letter writing campaigns and making financial contributions to advocacy groups is all well and good, however, our ability to act as militia is the final check upon tyrannical usurpation of lawful authority.

The Second Amendment Foundation is gonna have a field day with this one. Overreach and violation of DC v Heller/McDonald v Chicago? I'll take that and a side of no mag ban or AWB please.

I guess New York, as "internationally sophisticated" as it thinks it is, has opted for the European model of gun control. What the power elites in New York don't seem to realize is that as strict as the European gun laws appear to be on paper, they're widely ignored. There's a large and growing "gun underground" in Europe. Up to now, we haven't seen this level of gun law defiance on this side of the Atlantic, because by and large the gun laws in America have been reasonable. These new NY laws have crossed the threshold of reasonableness, and, in the same way that Prohibition created a whole criminal class, they will create a new class of criminals among erstwhile law-abiding gun owners.

EBK, we fight like we are going to war.

- Increase your financial support to NRA and other Pro 2A organizations. Money talks and more money means increased lobbying that REALLY will mount to something. Even in California, we have challenged and won/reversed/modified some legislations. I used to save changes for other things but now I deliberately save money for Pro 2A causes.

- Over the years, NRA has increased support for Pro 2A lower federal court judge selections that handle 2A related cases. Stay informed.

- Talk/discuss/convert your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers so they vote Pro 2A.

- If you have some free time to burn, fire off some emails/phone calls to your law makers and have your family/friends/neighbors/co-workers to do the same. I figure, it can't hurt and really don't cost me anything.

My advice would be two-fold for gun owners in New York.

1.) Leave the state of New York.

2.) When you get to your new state of residence for crying out load drop the New York attitude and outlook on things. In other words don't be the ****** nozzle that wants to change their new place to be just like the old place.

ACLU does not consider the 2nd amendment a collective right. They only fight for what they consider individual rights.

I'd like to see the US gunmakers put a moratorium on guns and parts to any police agency in NY. That would get their government's attention, or make them buy from Austria (which NYC is alreaady doing). Maybe cut off ammunition sales, too? If only the gun companies could stand the loss of business long enough to support the 2nd amendment.

- If I give them anymore money I will not be able to feed my self and pay my bills

-I talk with and educate family and friends and co workers when and where I can.

-I have sent e-mails and snail mail to all my reps. I have yet to see any replys and I doubt they are even reading them.

I will continue to do so however it doesnt seem to be making a difference. There has to be something productive we can do.

I will be going to my state capital on saturday if I do not have to work. I have a feeling the crowd will be small due to the fact that most have jobs and can not afford to take a day off.

EBK, this is a new war we must fight and win.

If you believe in your gun rights, join the fight launched by the NRA - http://www.nrastandandfight.com/

We will regroup in light of new attacks on our right to gun ownership and we may need to be dynamic and flexible to be successful with this new war. But like our forefathers and patriots, if we come together and pull our resources and stand together, we shall prevail!

I have seen this great country and people achieve great things. I have faith that righteous men and women will once again stand tall and fight a good fight.

LET US STAND WITH THE NRA AND FIGHT TOGETHER!

Checked out the website. What exactly is it going to do? looks like its just another news letter i already get e-mails from the NRA-ILA website. I watched the video it also does not explain anything.

SO aside from signing up for another e-mail news letter what is something PRODUCTIVE we can all do.

EBK, fighting a war takes a lot of preparation and planning along with the determination and the will to endure the challenges to overcome them.

I for one will stay the course, stay informed and stay connected with like-minded gun owners and support others.

I anticipate it will take some time for the Pro 2A counterattack to commence, but I prefer that to be fully developed to yield maximum effectiveness.

In the mean time, be patient and stay focused. In time, I believe it will be rather obvious what needs to be done, as I am certain NRA will make such a battle cry as to our objectives, unless "We the people" act first.

there's a heck of a lot of 8 rounders out there too. I think they just picked the most inconvenient number they could think of, or more likely, the author didn't know jack about guns.

EBK, any good fight has to start with the building of troops.

Are you old enough to remember the old women's shampoo commercial on TV? The one where I tell 2 friends, they tell 2 friends, then they tell 2 friends, etc. It may not seem like much sometimes, but, getting the word out and having those whom you've spoken with, go out and start their own discussions results in a heck of an exponential spread.

Sometimes I, too, feel like there should be more. And there will be. But in the meantime, we "build up troop strength", and prepare for the legislative struggles that are to come. Because come they will.

I just hope it never turns into more than that...

I think they just picked the most inconvenient number they could think of,...

I'm very inclined to believe that is the reason for 7. On the one side, very few firearms have mags like that so it's inconvenient for owners, and on the other side, manufacturers can be appeased with the ability to make money with new production.

Anti-gunners and far-left liberals aren't as ignorant as we wish sometimes.

I think they chose 7 rounds because it eliminates Garands, the "The greatest battle implement ever devised." Can't have those running around on the streets, hidden in an overcoat or something. It also eliminates the SKS.

I agree with this. Probably said "lets give them one more than a revolver so we can call it a compromise"
