I am checking it against my RCBS auto charge.

I don't have a check wait so I am using 175grain SMK's and some new Hornady ELDX Bullets to check.

The bullets weigh consistently what they should on the auto charge. And they are consistently heavier on my beam scale by about .7 grains. So how do I fix this?

I have cleaned the scale of dust and debris using a fine paint brush. But I am not sure what else to check or do. I mean it seems like such a straight forward device.

I found my old lyman off on the small poise. I ended making check weights for the weights I was trying to achieve and adjusted the balance to those weights.

I've pretty much retired that scale. I'm using an electronic scale now with a set of check weights. I have a new beam scale ordered, but it havent shown up yet.

I found the repeatable zero resulted from the knife edges pivoting on the free floating agate stones.

I do the following to clean/tune my beam scales - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9893632#post9893632

- Remove the bearing covers with a Phillips screwdriver (see pictures below)
- Make sure the posts the agate bearings free float on are clean
- Clean the agate bearings, especially the "V" notches
- Re-install the covers
- Clean the knife edges
- Level the bench surface using a bubble level at 90 degrees
- Turn HVAC/vent off and close the window/door to the room as any ambient air movement will affect scale reading/zero
- Place the powder pan on the pan support
- Set poises to zero
- Adjust the leveling foot so the pointer is at the zero line
