I've been loading plated and coated, and have several pet loads, but this is my first time playing with jacketed.
Here is some chrono data from a few of my favorites so far. Out of a CZ P09 4.5", trail mix brass, S&B primers, using a magnetospeed (muzzle velocity):
RMR 115 FMJ
BE86 5.7gr
1.140 OAL
Shots: 5
Max : 1204
Min : 1182
ES : 22
Avg : 1195
SD : 8
RMR 115 FMJ
True Blue 6.0gr
1.140 OAL
Shots: 10
Max : 1148
Min : 1122
ES : 26
Avg : 1136
SD : 8
RMR 115 FMJ
VV N320 4.5gr
1.135 OAL
Shots: 10
Max : 1118
Min : 1074
ES : 44
Avg : 1100
SD : 15
The BE86 load is hot,
The True Blue loads were great, I have always appreciated that powder, but it seems to really shine with this bullet. I will definitely be loading more.
The N320 workup surprised me, it has become my favorite powder for perfect, soft, 130 PF, single digit SD loads, but in this case the 4.5gr load started to see an increase in ES/SD and very slight primer cratering, so I stopped there. I might give it another try, but I think this powder is just better with heavier bullets.
I may not have been crimping enough. My press was set up for coated/plated zero crimp, which usually runs around .380. But the first loads I tested had scorching down one side of the case, which I assume is because it wasn't sealing well enough? In subsequent loads I tightened the crimp to .378-ish, and reduced OAL .005, and it seemed to help a bit. I may try reducing the bell at the powder drop station as well.
I didn't test much for accuracy. Offhand at 15 yards, they were all excellent by my standards, with the exception of a 5.9gr max load of BE86, which was downright violent and produced terrible groups.
So what loads have you been liking? Feel free to share any 115 FMJ loads in general.
As always, start low and work up towards proven load data from trusted sources.
