So what if Nightcrawler acquired Colt?

Most of it has been covered here but let me recap. Bring back the Python, Anaconda, Delta Elite and King Cobra. Try to be as close to the originals as possible but do not do so if it makes them insanely priced. Expand and sell AR variants to civilians. Move away from New England.

Would you eliminate the smart gun technology Colt is the main one working on?
I saw their spokesman on History Channel saying Colts owes it to the safety of their customers to develop the smart gun technology for their weapons.

Bring back the Delta Elite.

Bring back the 9 x 23 mm.

Make a Combat Commander in 9 x 23 mm.

Make an AR-15 in 9 x 23 mm.

Make 32 round magazines for the 9 x 23 mm AR-15.

Sell them to the common people.

:)

Too bad Colt sold the Colt name to the State of Connecticut, But If I owned Colt I would move it and call it Williams Firearms Co. I would then start making the company lean and mean and build the best colt guns ever. Starting with the 1911 and 1911a1. then the LW's and Commanders. Bring back the officers size and the CCO. I would then start with the revolver line and bring it back to the glory days.

One Kit I would build a set of full sized and officers frames with fitted slides and barrels in the following lengths, full, commander, and officers. so any configuration could be made up.

AR's what else but more and quicker.

You have all forgotten the most important things, therefore I will take over Colt.

Bring back the New Service and Shooting Masters, upgraded steels, mags and standard chamberings.

Dump all the 1911 variants and go back to the basic 1911/A1 and get it right then start selling gussied up stuff.

Pythons is pretty but too heavy for a 357 carry gun and not heavy enough for a 357 hunting gun. It can come back after the basic line is done right. I'll use that frame for the new .41 Special when I bring it out in '07.

Dump the Anaconda. No need for it after the Shooting Master comes back.

Bringing back the Monitor would be a good thing. I'll do that before I get playing around with any more of that poodle shooter stuff and when I get back to the AR's they will be standardized, and sold at proper reasonable prices.

The Good Old Colt's

Sam,

I think you pretty well summed it up.... ditch the lawyer guns and make real stuff...

The New Service will handle any cartridge but those for the 500 series S&Ws...

1911A1s etc. are still as good as they get.

AND... a Monitor would be totally awesome....

Gather all Colt employees for a company-sponsored BBQ, introduce myself and let them know that from know on, everything we do will be centered around the needs and more importantly, the wants of our customers. Here is how we are going to do it....

1. The development of "smart-gun" technology is over.

2. AR's will be actively marketed toward civilians and security/LEO organizations. Full support will be provided to security/LE agencies that purchase our weapons. This will include on-site armorer's courses and a 1-800 line for tech questions. The rifles will be standard AR's with receivers that are compatible with everyone else's. No funny sized pins to work around and non-5.56 cailber variants will be actively R&D'd.

3. We will keep the ball rolling on the current line of 1911's. Work on creating plain jane versions of the most popular configurations (Defender, LW Commander, CCO, etc.), and create a custom shop headed by a big-name 'smith.....or 'Tuner if I could lure him to come work for me.

4. The Python will be a limited custom-shop only proposition and they will be worth the money.

5. A GP-100/686 type line of DA revolvers will be R&D'd with input as to what the customers really want. Initial focus will be on high demand pieces like 4" barreled working guns in reasonable cailbers like .22LR, .357, .44 mag. Limited runs will be done in .41mag, .44spl., .45acp, and 10mm

6. We will contract out the production of SA revos with excellent QC by a well-known SASS shooter. We will look at cross-promotion with Marlin or Winchester to create a SASS starter's kit with like calibered SA revos and lever guns.

7. Later on, we will jump all over the CCW market by re-introducing the following: Detective Special, Magnum Carry, Mustang/Pony with Pocketlite as an option, and Pocket 9. This will also be used to expand the line of working revolvers to include 2 and 3" barreled pieces in .357, .44spl., .45acp, and 10mm.

8. We will either create or (preferably) purchase a "value" line to start marketing. Someone else mentioned Charter Arms and this is a great candidate. Maybe Charter could be the name attached to the working line of revos. Good MIM hammers and internals will be standard with real steel being a factory option. No obtrusive locks, maybe something like what Ruger is offering on their new SA revolvers will be offered as a factory option.

9. If a customer calls and says "I want a 1911 made that has a hot pink Officer's Model frame mated to a puke orange Government Model Slide all with black tiger stripes." Your response should be, "and what other options would like sir?"

10. If you are not here to serve the legitimate, paying customer, come to my office first thing tomorrow morning and we will work out a severence package.

The only part that really gets me is the Anaconda in 45LC. Why not .45Acp or .45 Autorim? Both are superior in all ways excepting nostalga and blackpowder!

Anaconda in 45 Colt

The Anaconda is strong enough to take Level II loads in 45 Colt. Same as they run in a Ruger Blackhawk. Level II loads in 45 Colt get pretty close to the horsepower of a 44 Magnum. Given the recoil involved, I'd rather launch them from an Anaconda than a Blackhawk.

At one time I was actively looking for a 45 Colt Anaconda. In the interim I found a raging Bull in 45 Colt. (You read that right, 45 Colt, not 454 Casull.)
