Gather all Colt employees for a company-sponsored BBQ, introduce myself and let them know that from know on, everything we do will be centered around the needs and more importantly, the wants of our customers. Here is how we are going to do it....
1. The development of "smart-gun" technology is over.
2. AR's will be actively marketed toward civilians and security/LEO organizations. Full support will be provided to security/LE agencies that purchase our weapons. This will include on-site armorer's courses and a 1-800 line for tech questions. The rifles will be standard AR's with receivers that are compatible with everyone else's. No funny sized pins to work around and non-5.56 cailber variants will be actively R&D'd.
3. We will keep the ball rolling on the current line of 1911's. Work on creating plain jane versions of the most popular configurations (Defender, LW Commander, CCO, etc.), and create a custom shop headed by a big-name 'smith.....or 'Tuner if I could lure him to come work for me.
4. The Python will be a limited custom-shop only proposition and they will be worth the money.
5. A GP-100/686 type line of DA revolvers will be R&D'd with input as to what the customers really want. Initial focus will be on high demand pieces like 4" barreled working guns in reasonable cailbers like .22LR, .357, .44 mag. Limited runs will be done in .41mag, .44spl., .45acp, and 10mm
6. We will contract out the production of SA revos with excellent QC by a well-known SASS shooter. We will look at cross-promotion with Marlin or Winchester to create a SASS starter's kit with like calibered SA revos and lever guns.
7. Later on, we will jump all over the CCW market by re-introducing the following: Detective Special, Magnum Carry, Mustang/Pony with Pocketlite as an option, and Pocket 9. This will also be used to expand the line of working revolvers to include 2 and 3" barreled pieces in .357, .44spl., .45acp, and 10mm.
8. We will either create or (preferably) purchase a "value" line to start marketing. Someone else mentioned Charter Arms and this is a great candidate. Maybe Charter could be the name attached to the working line of revos. Good MIM hammers and internals will be standard with real steel being a factory option. No obtrusive locks, maybe something like what Ruger is offering on their new SA revolvers will be offered as a factory option.
9. If a customer calls and says "I want a 1911 made that has a hot pink Officer's Model frame mated to a puke orange Government Model Slide all with black tiger stripes." Your response should be, "and what other options would like sir?"
10. If you are not here to serve the legitimate, paying customer, come to my office first thing tomorrow morning and we will work out a severence package.
