For those of you that shoot a 308, what do you have?? did you build it or make inprovements to a store bought.

I have a CZ 550 varmit kevlar topped with a Vortex Vipor 4-16x44 and Harris bipod.

My other 308 is a build on a 98 Belgium action, Shilen chrome molly fitted 22" medium weight barrel 10" twist, Dayton Traister adjustable triger, Dakota safety, Cickess recoil pad, Ebony forend, Steel grip cap, everything bead blasted and reblued & set in a factory 98 stock reshaped and topped with a Vortex Vipor 2.5-10x44
Both of these are fun to shoot and very accurate. The CZ is my long range prairie dog gun.

Show me your 308

My .308 is a STG58 on an imbel. Lots of fun, even if it wont shoot little tiny groups and the bipod is useless. :)

More than accurate enough for hunting, and it does see use for that.

1st Generation FN SPR. Worked on by: Kelly McMillan (I was one of 12 people selected by Kelly to test and evaluate the preproduction A5 stock), Matt Williams personaly inletted the A5 and installed his tactical bottom metal, and George Gardner of G.A. Precision piller bedded the stock, installed the Badger Ordnance tactical bolt knob, and lightened the trigger to a smooth 3# pull.

In my .308 family I have:

M1A Springfield Armory NM and an AR10 Armalite tricked out. I also have an older Remington 700 that I trued the action on, lapped the bolt and I think it has a Kreiger barrel. I built the 700 about 17 years ago so I forget.

Anyway, here are my M1A and AR10 rifles.

AR10 accessories:

My AR10 and the M1A together:

The bipods used are cheap $3.00 props.

Don't have an image of the 700 ready to be posted. :(

I also have a M1 Garand .308 barrel waiting to go on a Garand.

as you can tell by handle, .308 is my round of choice even though the 7mm-08 and .22-250 also go with me. my oldest that I carry is an 30 year old Remington 788, love my AR10s and my one M1A Springfield Armory. my next one will be a Ruger #1 if I can find one.My Armalite AR10A2 rifle is one of my favorite hog rifles. I am an old grunt, despise the M16 (.5.56) and any of its current variants, I seen their non stopping action first hand 40 years ago. for an all around cartridge for North America, the .308 is it.

.308 is my favorite caliber and .308 Win is without a doubt my favorite cartridge. I have the following rifles chambered for .308 Win.

Accuracy International AW
Rem 700
DSA SA58 PARA Carbine
POF P308
M1A Scout Squad

All of the rifles above are stock except the Remington. It has a Krieger barrel, PT&G bolt with Sako extractor, TUBB firing pin and spring, CG trigger, AICS stock, BO base, Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x50mm scope and Seekins rings. I made the bolt handle and welded it to the bolt and I painted the rifle with GUN-KOTE.

Here's my Remington and AI (bottom) ...

wyohome,
That Kimber LongMaster Classic (bottom) is really, really nice. I'm waiting on a Kimber Montana in .308 Win.

I have 2, a Kimber

And a Winchester EW in a McMillan Edge stock.

They shoot well for lightweight hunting rifles.

5 shots at 500 yards when the gun was STOCK! I need to get out and shoot it some more.

M1A Standard Loaded, completely stock except for the Tanner military shooting sling. Eventually want to trick it out some. I have pics of it but I can't remember the password to my Photobucket account.

Most of the rifles on my "To Get" list, including the top two--a FN 17S and a Ruger GSR--are .308s. It is quickly becoming my favorite centerfire rifle cartridge.

No perty pictures to post, but after years of owning an '06, .270s, .303s, Mosin, and other assorted rifles I broke down and bought a Ruger American in .308. What a dandy! Since my son also has a .308, I can share ammo with him on the range and reload with him also.

Remington 700 classic, only mod was trigger work on the stock trigger; sub moa at 100 yards
