I ordered a case of Ranger T ammo. I went away for 2 days and when I returned found UPS had left my self defense ammo in the pouring rain. Grrrrrrr. The box was not wrapped and had simply been left in the Winchester box on the ground. It was clearly ammunition. The exterior box was soaked and delaminating and the individual boxes inside were all damp. Will I be able to depend on this ammo? I'm concerned since it's self defense ammo. Thanks.

I doubt very much dampness would cause it harm.

Somewhere I remember reading that a smokeless powder quantity was placed underwater in 1945. Periodically, some would be removed for quality testing.
Seems to be unaffected in any respect.

Primers might be something else, but I really doubt moisture would pass by a seated primer.

I found .380 FMJ in my back yard that was buried sometime in the 1930's, when opened, the powder was still dry.

Thanks for the info. I feel better.
This was my first post on The High Road. :)

The following link might boost your confidence in your water soaked ammuntion:

If they couldn't kill the primer with penetrating oils such as WD-40, I'd imagine water wouldn't pose much of a threat.

Hope this helps.
