As always, I'm low on money but went gun shopping the other day anyhow. :p Found an M44 at Outdoor America for ~$85.00, and another one at a milsurp store for ~$105.00.

Then, I got online and saw Southern Ohio Gun's offer at $39.00... :D

The trouble is, it seems as though nobody posts their shipping charges anymore. AIM doesn't, SOG doesn't; in fact, I don't ever remember seeing shipping charges anywhere except Gunbroker and the like.

As low on funds as I am, I think I could spare a little extra cash, get 2 SOG M44s for the price of a local one, and be set for life on that particular model of Mosin ;) But my main concern is how much the shipping will be... not for Overnite or 2-Day or anything special, just their cheapest.

To add to that, I can't get a straight answer as to what the process and fees involved are from Outdoor America. A C&R is not an option, as I'm not yet 21... so I guess my real questions are:

1) If you've ordered from SOG, what are their shipping rates like?

2) What's the process of ordering firearms from an out-of-state distributor?

3) If you've ever transferred through Outdoor America, what is their going rate (I've heard both $10 and $25 from the same sales staff)?

Thanks in advance for all your help... :(

SOG's shipping charges are pretty reasonable IMHO - I ordered a Yugo SKS and two Romanian .22 trainers, and the shipping came out to roughly 20 bucks (give or take some; it's been awhile). Arrived in three days.

The process as I remember - get your local transfer FFL to call them and tell them you are going to order. Then, call them up yourself and order. Then, wait for the goodies to arrive at the FFL and do the 4473s and transfer fee (my FFL is a nice guy - 20 bucks for every three guns transferred).

Last time I ordered from SOG shipping was $22.00 for 2 handguns.

I think handguns are more expensive, shipping-wise, since SOG policy is to send them overnight FedEx.

I have a local FFL who does transfers for $10 a gun, so I basically add $20 to the SOG price to get my 'out the door' cost.

SOG has always been very reasonable in their shipping charges. I have always been very pleased with their service and the quality of the firearms received frm them. they are good people to do business with,

I bought a pair of Rock Island 1911 Govts from SOG and they didn't charge me anything at all for shipping to the FFL doing the transfer. They also didn't charge a 3% credit card fee either. So overall I'm happy doing business with them. The 1911s weren't bad either. As far as .45s go they aren't Kimbers or Mark 23s, but great guns for $285 out the door.

i will warn you that every person you talk to at SOG will tell you something completely different. their phone staff does not have it all together.

the kicker you are going to run into is not being 21. before i turned 21 i had a ridiculous time trying to get them to sell me .30 06 ammo when i was 20. couldn't tell you on shippping as i pick my stuff up from them since they are close to my house.
