Sold some surplus ammo

Went to the LGS and sold 2 spam cans of surplus ammo. One can, unopened, of 8mm Mauser and one opened can 7.62 Russian. Sold it for 40 cents a round. Actually, I took it in store credit. Berdain primed, corrosive and draws a magnet. Everyone is happy with the deal.

I hope you got something very cool in trade.

I've been wondering about a couple different *cases* of ammo I'll likely never shoot.

I'm not certain whether I should be pleased or saddened by stories of folk bartering ammunition.

On the one hand - I like the flexibility it represents.

On the other - it's very easy to interpret the scenarios as harbingers of something almost best to not acknowledge.

Todd.

I've thought about selling a 7.62 Tokarev 800 can. I remember many years ago they were about 10 cent a round. I snatched the last few for about 20 cent a round, thinking I overpaid, but that old 1958 Bulgarian ammo shot just as good as the new manufactured ammo, so I bought a few cans. (you can see the ammo in my avatar) I'm sure I could double my money, but I will keep it, as I really like the nostalgia of it and Tokarev ammo is kind of hard to acquire.

Just sold 350 rounds of Chinese steel core ammo, slightly corrosive, which I never intended to shoot.

Of course, what I now consider to be a great return for me may just be a drop in the bucket if things go poorly in the future.

That's a pretty damn good price. Last surplus ammo I bought was some 1970's era 7.5 mm French that cost me a little under a $1 a round.

I am unwilling to sell any of my ammo as I don't know when or if I'll ever to be able to replace it.

However, I do have a mint CZ50 (not refurbished), and about 1k rounds of ammo I would sell as it's the only thing I have in .32acp and don't plan on ever shooting it.

Most LGSs won't take ammo back purchased there the day before. Hard to believe they would take ammo from a unknown source, even with today's markup.

My LGS, my favorite one that happens to be the one closest to me, said he would give me $600 in store credit per case of .223. I know I could get more but it helps us both out and we will both make something on the deal, now I'm just waiting to find a gun I want. He posts new guns every day or every other day so I'm just waiting to find something I "need". Was very tempted to jump on a Sig M18 but I have 9mm's up the wazoo, I shot one at the range and I was killing it. Super accurate, great pistol.
