I've finally depleted my stash of AA#2 and now see theres a shortage on it. Does anyone have any history on Solo-1000? Id like to find another non-position sensitive powder that can replace AA2. Its going to be for regular 45 loads, light 38's and slow 357 160lead loads. Any reference would be greatly appreciated.

Solo 1000 is good stuff. I don't consider it a replacement for AA #2, but it burns clean, is fairly position insensitive, and can produce accurate loads in .38 Spl and .45 ACP.

It is a big flake powder and does not meter very well (Shoots much better than it meters). AA #2 of course drops nearly perfect every time.

I find solo 1000 to meter pretty well, but, if you think finding AA#2 is hard just try finding some solo 1000. It has been missing for years now.

You may want to look at shooters choice clean shot powders, specifically D032. From what I have read it is made in the Czech Republic by Explosia industries and the D032 is based on and may be an earlier version of AA#2. I bought a pound recently to mess around with, it looks just like AA#2 in that it is a super fine ball powder. I haven't loaded much with it yet but did do a handful of .40cal on the way to the range the other day. Didn't chrono, but the loads felt good, were accurate, and they shot very clean.

You wont find a lot of data about this powder online but there are a few people using it and they seem to like it. There is loading data on the shooters world website. Over the next few weeks I will be playing around with it in 9mm and 40 loads and am hoping it works like AA#2 as that is my favorite powder overall but cant find it anywhere.

I've tried Titegroupe for 45acp but found accuracy was lacking when compared to loads with Bullseye. I to am waiting to find some #2.

DO32 looks interesting. I just pulled the load data. Now does BE and BE86 download well? Thats really the only competing powder Im looking for at this point

Why don't you consider AA #5. Looks like it would be way more versatile than Solo 1000 and it's available too.

I use AA #5, #7, and #9 and they all meter like a dream and are clean burning, IMO.

AA#5 is out of stock everywhere as well. I used up what I had then went to AA#2, used all that up. I think it will be a while before we find anything AA other than #7 which seems to still be around.

You might be able to find some AA#5 locally, worth a try. It has been available at PV for months now.

But that's AA#5, not AA#2. Good luck with that one. Might want to try Titegroup or VV-N320
