Huntsville Al used to have great gunshows until a dude shot himself in the bathroom at the arena. He had left the show, went to the restroom, reloaded his gun - don't remember what kind - then shot himself in the side as he was holstering in a IWB type. That was all the antis needed. Even though it was away from gunshow they still stopped it bacause of the risk.

All these people went to one of the biggest gun shows in Texas and all the want to mention is an AD?

Tell us about the show...

It's a shame he didn't know how to use his firearm better.
He knew how to use it, he just didn't know how not to use it.......Unless he's a complete idiot he has no doubt learned where not to be pointing it. Which only makes matters worse for HKUSP45C and anyone else in the immediate vicinity.

Just curious, did you happen to notice what type of weapon he had? Not that it really matters. I was was just wondering how much effort he had to put into his AD. If it were a revolver, he would have had to apply some force to move the trigger that much. If it were a semi- auto he must have had the safety off. Of course, if he had followed the basic safety rules, it never would've happened regardless of what he was carrying. Again, just curious.

For the benefit of newcomers who might be reading this thread, here are the Four Universal Rules of Gun Safety:

1) All guns are always loaded (treat them so!)

2) Never point the gun at anything you are not willing to destroy.

3) Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target (and you have made the decision to shoot).

4) Be sure of your target and what's beyond.

The yahoo at the gun show who shot himself violated THREE of the FOUR safety rules: he handled the gun as if it were empty, he pointed it at a body part he didn't intend to destroy, and he put his finger on the trigger when the gun was not pointed at a deliberate target with a safe backstop. (Hmm, maybe that's all four.)

Guns do not just "go off." In order for a messy situation like this to happen, someone has to pull the trigger while breaking two or more of the four universal gun safety rules.

Don't be that guy!!

It's always amusing to me how when somebody makes a mistake with a gun the biggest grabbers are always fellow gun owners.

I'm sure everyone has made a mistake in their lives.
