I was at the local State Park range yesterday. I try to drop in after work at least one afternoon every week.
The RO told me that last year they had 270 people sign in to shoot over the month of March. This past March it was 760 people! Okay, we should probably factor in the record snow storm (for us) of March 2008, which dumped 21 inches overnight on a Friday. Still....three times the number of people shot at the range in March this year than did last year. That's actually encouraging.
Sure, some of those were like the guy I saw last week; He came with the pistol and box of shells that he bought 15 minutes before, put 2 magazines worth through the gun, then left. He said he just needed to know that his new SD gun worked.
But I also see more people actually shooting a lot...bringing their kids out...using the facility. I'll put up with a little crowding, if it means more people are enjoying shooting sports.
Good to know that some of the ammo isn't being hoarded, it's being used.
