I finally picked up my HK-93 from layaway today after a couple months of waiting to pay it off. I think I got a pretty good deal on this gun for $2,100 so I'm happy. I'm sure I'll never loose money on it and I consider it a good investment although I don't plan to keep this gun as strictly a safe queen, I intend to shoot it and enjoy it.

Date code indicates that it was born in 1980 and it's in really great condition, hardly any wear to the finish and clean inside and out. It came with three 30 round mags and one 40 round mag.

Anyway here are a few pics.

nice one!

Hi NWilliams,

congrats on that nice rifle!

Glad to hear you wont keep it as a safe queen!

The HK G3, you certainly know it´s just the full-auto capable version of your rifle, was the first real weapon I fired in my whole life.
(Well, I didnt ask for it, I had to, being Bundeswehr at that time.)

Five shots from it was all it took to change me from a person indoctrinated with a reject for weapons to a man who just loves to shoot anything that goes "BANG" (not just "plop") :)

Now and then I read that this piece "kicks like a mule" or is "not for girls"....I just cannot subscribe to those messages. I liked it from the beginning and I dont suffer from any magnumitis or over-machismo or the like.

Sad that I cant legally own a G3 over here, only strange copies, most of them with altered innards...just not the original.

Caress her for me and: Shoot her a lot! ;)

I hate you. That rifle rocks and for a smoking good price. Congrats on getting a rifle from the best gun mafucaturer in the world!

Congrats! A wonderful rifle. I picked one up around 1986 or 87 for $475. It required some TLC but ended up being a rifle that I spent some very happy moments behind. Foolishly I sold it in the 90's. It is one of my great gun regrets. I have not yet been able to replace it, and probably won't, but I did end up with a PTR 91K which is shorter than a standard PTR 91 using the same wide forearm as the 93 (with slight modification). The gun has a similar feel to the 93, other than caliber. The 93 is such a sweet shooting rifle. I also had a retractable stock for my 93 and in .223 the stock is much more comfortable to shoot than in .308 with the 91.

I also did one little modification on the 93 wide forearm. For the longest time I have found that the sling attachment point on the left side of the forearm can get in the way when cocking the charging handle often taking some skin off my hand. Fed up with that (and maybe it isn't an issue with the 93, I can't recall) I carefully drilled out the stud holding the sling attachment point removing it. The results were quite good leaving a nice neat recess.

One of my happiest shooting memories was spending a February afternoon in south central Ohio embedded in a snow bank on a hill, just inside the treeline, overlooking a small valley and pond. I was wearing winter camo and downwind so I watched the animal world go by sitting silently with my 93 at the ready. I had so many animals in my sights but never took a shot. Just sitting there pretty much invisible with the 93 was enough. The memory of that hill is one of my quiet places that I go to in my head when I need a break from reality. I sure miss my 93.
