I was looking to buy a Beretta in the near future. I like the 20 round mags, and I don't really know what accepts them... I think the first place I found them said the 96 accepts them. I guess what I'm asking is: are the mags interchangeable, or can you swap some floor plates to make other models' mags' 20 rounders? What I'm really looking at buying is an M9, its what I like the best. Any other suggestions for Berettas are welcome. Links to info, mags, or floor plate conversions are welcome too.

P.S. I might have some other questions, I'm just too tired to think of them right now.

In some instances, you can use .40SW mags in 9mm guns, just the follower is different. But for long-term reliability, stick with the right caliber accessories for your choice of gun.

If you like the M9/92fs, buy it already, why let a bunch of strangers affect your decision? It is as reliable as any other NATO approved firearm. It really depends on if you like it and if it fits your hands well-enough that you can fire it comfortably.

Awesome gun! Mine is the 92FS in INOX. A bit big, nowadays, for just a 9mm, but proven in battle. Folks say to look for one "Made in Italy" as it will have less polymer parts than the "USA" ones. (For example, the trigger.)

BTW, I also have a Taurus PT92c. Probably over 15,000 rounds throught that thing w/o a malfunction. EVER. Eats everything. Smoothest action of any weapon I own and I am a huge admitted HK and Sig fan.

Good luck with your purchase!

Okay, I didn't know the 96 was in .40, thanks for clearing that up. I'm gonna stick to 9mm for now. What I read may have been misread, or it could have been a typo, dunno if they make 20 rounders for them.

What I want to know now is if the 92/M9/M9A1 mags are interchangeable? I think all the mags I've seen for them have said, for the 92 or 92f most of the time.

Btw, Mec-gar does make excellent mags. My friend owns a CZ-75 and several mec-gar mags along with the factory mags (though I think they're the same). Anyway, I plan on buying mec-gar for any gun I own any time it's an option.

The Beretta 90-Two (also called the "Dash") is probably the ultimate evolution of the 92 series, but so far seems to have had a lukewarm reception. Part of the issue is the price and the fact that it's kind of a warmed-over 92. The integral recoil buffer is billed as extending the frame's life:

Yes, the mags for M9, 92, 90-Two are all interchangeable. The 20 rounders are not flush. The 90-Two comes with 17 rounders that are flush. 96 mags will fit in a 92 and vice-versa. Function, they will work but reliability isn't as good. Last round seems to get misfed b/c of follower. I have a 96 Centurion and several 92 models, I don't mix mags.

The 20-round mags don't sit flush. The closest you can get that sit "flush" is the 18-round mags. These are very good magazines, and run fine. They have a plastic floorplate, and I prefer steel on my carry mags, so I carry 15-rounders with the metal plate. I have several 18-round mags, though, and they run fine.
The 92 is an amazing pistol. One of the best in the world. Get one, and shoot the pants off of it. You will be happy.

Thank you for all the info. When I do finally get a Beretta I'll remember all this. I'll probably end up buying at least one 20 rd mag and seeing if I hate it or if I can deal with it. Also, I'm looking for something with rails, but its not absolutely necessary. I would get a Taurus, because half of them do have rails and they're cheaper, but I'm looking to buy an actual Beretta.

Purchase of the Beretta has been pushed back due to a new shipment of Saiga rifles at classic arms.... it's a pretty gun, and I like how its engineered. Plus, I don't know how many they have and how long they'll have them.
