So I am looking into getting a Massachusetts LTC-A license and had a few questions.

1) wanted to get straight what exactly you can own in Massachusetts. There seems to be a assault weapons ban which pretty much copies the 1994 federal ban. Is that still in place/remains constitutional? What nfa items can I own? Supressors, sbr's, ect. The magazine capacity limit is 10 rounds, correct?

2) I am turning 21 soon. If I got my required training before I turned 21 can I sit on a certificate and still use it to satisfy the requirements for a ltc-a license?

3) Is there anything which is not obvious or tricky about the application process I should watch out for?

4) Edit: I have a house in Vermont where I can own "assault weapons" and but if anything goes wrong it becomes a huge headache if I am stuck with a gun I can't hold on to if I the Vermont house suddenly becomes uninhabitable or some other unforeseeable circumstance. Is there anything I can do which makes doing that less risky or just avoid that mess altogether?

I know these questions are pretty basic but any help is appreciated.

You should direct any questions about the application process, including what qualifies a acceptable training, to your licensing authority, which is always the police department in your city or town of residence. They will tell you exactly what you need to know about that.

As to what is legal, anything based on the AR15 or AK47 platform is banned. There are some exceptions, and a place I would reach out to for info on what can be sold is Four Season Firearms in Woburn. They are one of the best, most knowledgable LGS's I know of. Website is Four Seasons Firearms (fsguns.com)

As to NFA, those are also questions I would direct to the licensing officer within the PD of your city/town, who will tell you what the application process consists of.
