1. At 5:43 we see a velocity vs. barrel length chart for I believe M855 - https://youtu.be/tGgjiAapvbE

Why does the velocity at 12'' and 20'' drop, but then increases again?

2. Does anyone have any info. (preferably video or pictures) on how 5.56 performs in gel at extended range? We always see videos of short range gel tests, and hear how bad 5.56 is at longer (low velocity) ranges, but is there any evidence of this available?

3. For those who have experience with both 14.5'' and 16'' ARs, how do they compare in terms of maneuverability from a weight perspective? Said another way, does the slight reduction of weight out front make a difference, or is it negligible?

1. That graph must just be accounting for differences in ammo. Everything that I have seen shows that velocity increases with barrel length.

2. How long a distance are you wanting? Videos all over youtube out to 200 and 300 yards.

3. Weight of the additional 1.5" of barrel length is under 2 oz. The primary benefit of 14.5 vs. 16 inch barrels is maneuverability in close quarters.
