I've been around firearms my whole life.
There's been an old Sears break-action 12 gauge hanging on the mantel of my parents fireplace since long before I was born. Even as a wee lad, I would gaze in wonder at the deep lustre of the wood, and the contrast of the cold, dark steel. The firing pin is broken, and it hasn't fired since the 1950's.
It isn't a museum piece, but it is definately priceless in my eyes.
It was the first gun I ever held in my own two hands, and many was the time when I would ask my dad if I could hold it.

My first experience with shooting was when my dad finally let me shoot the Winchester bolt-action .22 that belongs to my mom.

I was hooked way before that moment, but from then on, I was downright crazy about firearms and everything to do with them.

My first firearms purchase was a .22 BB/CB parlour gun when I was about 14, and my most recent was a .30-30 Winchester.

Whether it's an ancient hand cannon, or a modern military assault rifle, I am interested in it. I have owned several guns, sold some and was happy, sold some and was sad, but all in all, I can't complain, because it has been, and continues to be, my most passionate hobby. I love to buy "fixer-uppers" and restore them.

I get giddy when I'm driving somewhere and I spot a gunshop I've never been to before. I really am like a kid in a candy store when I'm surrounded by weapons, drooling over some firearm I've never seen in person before.

The most rewarding thing is bringing someone to the range who has never fired a gun before, and watching them have that moment of sheer joy that happens when the gun goes off and the target gets a hole punched in it.

My wife is the kind of person who rarely goes shooting, yet is vehement about her gun rights. She doesn't care what you carry, just that you carry is good enough in her book. She understands my take on guns, but she's not nearly so... shall we say, rabid about them as I am...
