Like was stated in an earlier reply everyone should have a .357. Here is my answer to that, a S&W 27-2. It'll take all the heavy loads you want to shoot.
However, if you really want to reach out and touch something at 50-100 yards, this Model 57 .41 mag 8 3/8" will do.
Wundudnee's comment on the .41 mag is right on. Plus, revolvers are just too darn good looking! That SP 101 on the bottom is chambered in .357 mag, it's built like a brick house, and it shoots very well.
