Why? WHY???

I've been watching the new polymer pistol offering from Beretta for quite some time now. I waited patiently for it to go into production, and then be available for gov't contract only for MONTHS. Then, I saw it go public. I rushed over to Sportsman's Warehouse to hold one (in 9x19), and it felt like it was custom made for my hand. I KNEW I had to have one.

Then I had to wait again. Them things ain't exactly cheap (not real expensive, either, but 500 bucks is 500 bucks, and when you ain't got it, you ain't got it), so I got to look at it every time I was in a gunstore or outdoor outfitter. Finally, the gods granted me fortune (my Crimmus bonus is coming here soon), so I thought that it was finally my time!

Imagine my dismay when I learned that NO FRIGGIN BODY HAS ONE. I've called every place I know of to buy firearms. Sportsman's Warehouse has the only one in town right now, and it's in .40.

:cuss: :cuss: :cuss:

Now I get to continue waiting. I'm on their wishlist. Everyone else will be happy to order one for me at 50-100 dollars MORE, plus a bloody FFL x-fer fee.:banghead:

Lovely.

That's the Universe's way of telling you that you should really get the S&W M&P in 9mm instead. :)

(Seriously - I feel your pain....)

It always happens, when I got my CCW permit I was just waiting and waiting to get a T/C Contender Frame and then the day I got my letter I was out looking and *poof* the damn things up and vanished like a fart in the wind. Couldn't even find one on gunbroker or any other auction sites.

Everytime... you think it's right there in your reach until you try to grab it.

Tell me about it....

As much as I LOVE my newest pistol(CZsp01) I wish I bought the SA XD45 service when they had it...Everytime I go back they have 5 sp01's and 0 XD's.

Lay Away !!!!!!!!!!!!

Works great when you dont have all the money right now. most stores have a 10 percent down policy. 90 percent of mine have been bought that way.
So far I havent missed a oppertunity on something i just had to have.

Sometimes it's like the best deal is that you found the gun you wanted! :scrutiny: Sometimes waiting just doesn't pay off:banghead:

I think that slide was done with an aftermarket finish, like Robar or somebody.

I havent heard anything about stainless PX4s.

UPDATE

Turns out, I have a friend that's a gun dealer! My buddy's brother-in-law works at a real nice store in Austin, so I called him up. He had just sold a Px4 in 9mm the day before, so he needed some more. He told me he'd check distributor stock and get back to me.

About 20 minutes later, he said he's got like four or five coming in, one with my name on it!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Happy man am I! I'll post when it comes in next week.

:D :D :D :D :D :D

IT'S HERE!!!!!

Well, after much anticipation, my Crimmus Bonus came in early Friday afternoon, and to my surprise was considerably MORE than I was expecting. SOoo...

Bright and early Saturday morning, a nice breakfast is had by The Wife, The Kid, and myself at Bear Moon Bakery, and off to Austin to visit Sportsman's Finest. A few hundred bucks later (and after holding a couple 1911's and a really cool FNH FS2000), I'm one Px4 and one 15-rd. 92 mag richer! Oh Glorious Day!!!:D

Took 'er home, cleaned the amazing amount of factory oil off of it, made an application of Hoppe's Elite, tried out the small and large backstraps (I ended up going with the medium), and loaded up with some Hydra-Shok's. She's ready for use!

I need a digital camera. Maybe I'll borrow one and post some pics of it with my other guns.

Expect a full range report around New Year's.

Merry Christmas to all!

Ooo... time to update my sig line!

Congrats!

I know that feeling. I waited four months for my P220C SAO to come in, but it finally arrived yesterday. :D

If I might make one suggestion:

Until I've had a gun to the range and test fired it with both FMJ and carry ammo I wouldn't trust a new gun with defense duties. Perhaps I'm reading too much into your statement, but I figured I'd mention it.

Good point...

I've actually read in several places since that post that new firearms should have a bunch of rounds through them before regular use (hunting, target, PDW, etc.). I've heard your voices.

I'm going to the range next week to dump over 200 rounds through it, I'm sure. Then she's going full duty as a PDW.

Man, what a gun! I've never owned, nor desired to own, a polymer pistol before. Nothing against polymer guns or anything, but I've never held one I liked. Then, I grabbed the Px4. Thing feels like it was custom made to a mold of My Own Hand. I'm not believing how incredibly light the frame is! IT'S PLASTIC, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! Wild, looking at its frame next to the frame of the 92. They both got rails for the slides. One is steel. The other's plastic. Amazing. I dig this!

Congrats on the new purchases, just one problem....PICTURES????:D

Just a suggestion, but I would put more than 200 rds through it before using it as a defense weapon.
