Handguns in FL
I too live and sometimes work in the sunshine state,
. For a handgun sale from an out of state resident, you'd need to go to a FFL holder/gun shop near you, have them send a valid copy of the shop's FFL to the other party(if they are a FFL holder) then you pay for the firearm to the person who owns it, they send it to the gunshop/FFL holder by next day air/express mail insured and you go to pick it up. The gunshop you use will also make you pay for and get a FDLE(Florida Dept of Law Enforcement) background check too,
. This entire process may take a few days or maybe a week. I have bought handguns from out of state sources and from online,
www.gunsamerica.com. I never used a private owner just gun shops/FFL holders.
I just re-read your post. For in state handgun sales, you'd need to pay the person and have them mail the handgun, INSURED, by express/overnight mail like FedEx or UPS. Do not use the US post office! In state sales do not require a FDLE check or FFL holders in Florida.
PM me if you have any other FL based firearm questions.

PS: I think you can legally mail/ship unloaded handguns in local stripmall type UPS locations. I FedExed a Beretta 96D from FL to AZ and the clerk did not even say anything...
