X-treme bullet company just sold the machine that makes their .223 projectiles, so I'm looking for the next best source of ammo. I've never purchased pulldowns, and the local store is saying standard Hornady's might be their replacement, which cost 30% more.

Xtreme was $180 for 2000 55gr fmj -- can we meet or beat this anywhere?

I like buying 2000 at a time and I'm open to anything that wont hurt me or my firearms, accuracy is a plus but not essential for an AR15.

Thanks for the ideas guys. It looks like pulldowns are the way to meet/beat the x-treme prices/products.

http://Wideners.com (thanks docgmt)

Any other good spots? are they all the same? it sounds like you have to inspect'm all and toss a few?

thanks again,

Just thought I'd start a list of pulled .223's:

10ring.com: 1000pcs of .223 62gr SS109 FMJ Pull-Down Bullets $79/1000 (1000ct)
wideners.com: UFM855B 22Cal M855 Steel Core Lake City pulled bullets $77/1000 (5000ct)

bulletheads looks good too! Thanks angus.

bulletheads.com : 55g fmj 223 new (not pulled). $84/1000. (+7.35 tax in CA)

If you have never shot pull downs and you want to hit what you are aiming at then you probably don't want pull downs. At least in my experience they have not been accurate but I have only shot a couple thousand. You can buy 55 grain FMJ from Montana Gold for $280 for 3,500 bullets, that's $80 per 1,000 delivered.

The days of cheap bullets have gone along with the cheap cigar and 5 cent coffee. You may be able to find less expensive bullets but not cheap ones.

Going to agree with RustyFN that at todays prices pulled are hard to justify but at the right price point I'd take another couple ammo cans full they make fine plinkers as long as you don't mind passing on shooting golfballs

Bulletheads looks good. I also really like the FMJ's I bought from goldenwestbrass.com but they've been out of stock for a long time...

Cheapest new bullets right now I think are at Grafs, especially if you have a dealer account. I bought a bunch of Hornadys a few weeks ago. Less than 8¢ each for 55 grain SP's.
