So i finally got my 223 dies and some brass, powder etc, and i am going to put together some plinking ammo. All the 223 guns are ar15 variants (a pistol, and a rifle i'm about to finish) with 1:7 barrels, so bullet weight shouldn't be too much of an issue.

That said, I would like for these to be volume produced, the same for both guns, and i'm looking for moderate accuracy for closer ranges, within 200 yards. So, i need a few thousand bullets to start, probably 62 grain (55 grain would be fine too) and affordable while also being consistent. Fmj, plated, cast, or powder coated i don't mind, but i want to be able to get more later, so a source for them may be more important than bullet weight and makeup.

I am not casting yet, so these need to be commercially produced. So, what are you all doing? RMR and Xtreme bullets are the front runners for me so far...

The best plinker bullets are probably Hornady 55 gr. FMJBT's. Midway has it on sale $84/1000.

Another vote for the Hornady 55gr FMJ. If you're shooting at 200 yards and less I don't think there's a better and more cost effective bullet available. Monmouth Reloading and NE Relosding (when on sale) are my go-to suppliers.

I used to se berrys 55gn FMJ, until I got a line on the bulk (6000 bullet) Hornady 55 grain FMJ's. I use them out to 300 yards or so.

Anyone ever try the Wolf 55gr FMJBTs? I've been getting great groupings with them sitting on top of 26.5grains of H335. I was picking them up for $65 / 1000 till my local supplier said wolf stopped selling the individual projectiles.

Wow that's a beautiful picture. Looks like a box of gold. Love hornady 55gr fmj bt bullets. Especially when you get them on sale.

My 1 in 7" twist doesn’t seem to like 55 grain. Loves 68 grain.

I need to shoot more to see if it was just me and a new gun.
