From South Africa, The Citizen reports:

Gun owners in for a shock: Report
JOHANNESBURG – Owners of firearms are set for a rude awakening early next year, News24 reported on Tuesday.

According to the Central Firearms Register, those failing to comply with firearms control legislation would be arrested, have their weapons confiscated and would have to appear in court.

The latest figures indicated that more than 500 000 firearms licences still had to be renewed before December 31.

Abe van Tonder, an accredited firearms trainer in Cape Town, doubted whether this target would be reached.

“There is a small increase in people turning up for training but it isn’t nearly as many as I expected. I ordered more manuals because I expected hundreds of gun owners to come to me for training during the next month of two,” he said.

“This is not happening. I suspect the red tape with paperwork puts people off. Gun owners hand in their firearms at police stations instead of going for training.”

Van Tonder said gun owners were afraid of the law and “for what could happen if they fail to comply with it”.

Owners of firearms had to fill in numerous forms and make statements.

They also had to submit motivating statements and a number of certified copies of their identity document, arms licence and proficiency certificate.

“The paper war is just too much for the older gun owners in particular,” said Van Tonder.

Another accredited trainer, Faan Gerber, also reported only a small increase in the applications for training but not nearly enough.

“People in rural areas have woken up to some extent but people in the cities are ignoring the fact that there are only 40 days left,” he said.

“If they wake up now, there won’t be enough trainers in the country to train them all,” he said.

National police spokesman Director Phuti Setati said firearm owners who refused to renew their licences could be sentenced to up to 12 months in prison.

News24 quoted him as saying: “Gun owners who don’t want to renew their licences can also sell their guns to arms dealers or hand it in at a police station.”

It's clear that South Africa's new "majority" rulers have been inspired by the actions of their neighbor to the north, Robert Mugabe in Zimbabwe.

But knowing the Boer's history and outlook, when they institute their race-based land-and-business grab in RSA, they fear having to deal with a large number of white South Africans who would emulate Martin Olds.

So they want to disarm their future victims now to render them defenseless.

What can they really do in south africa to fix their government? It seems like the worst of the worst are in the majority and running things down there. The best the whites can hope for is that they will overreach too soon and be soured on plundering them due to stronger-than-expected resistance.

Okay...let's see, first "registration", then confiscation, then the meat grinder fires up, then......well then everything is better!

And hope that the rumored slaughter of white South Africans doesn't happen the day Nelson Mandela dies. Supposedly, the day he dies is a "rallying cry" day. Everyone is suppose to rise up and kill a white person. That's the rumor anyway. Any truth to it? Well...we won't know that til "Mandela Gone: Day 2".

Bingo

The ANC has always been a communist organization, and like commies worldwide they will do whatever they need to in order to keep power. Disarming the citizens has long been one of their priorities. Now we see how they've used the existing registration system to create ever more red tape and a de facto ban.

Actually, that would be the best time, from the perspective of the their intended victims and from the long term perspective of the country as a whole. A spontaneous, country-wide attack would give little time for the attackers to prepare an effective offense or prevent the defenders from mounting a proper defense. If it ended up killing off the most reckless and violent 10-20 percent of the population, South Africa would experience positive effects for many years and many whites would likely survive if they were still armed.

Has there been much of an exodus from the country yet, or are people digging in?

I would imagine the farmers are discovering why jews dont traditionally tend to take up professions requiring them to remain in a hostile country. Certain professions derive their value from the skill of the worker rather than the value of a fixed asset (such as land or a factory), and that skill can be taken out of the country if circumstances require it. If you keep all your valuables in your head (knowledge of a difficult trade is highly valuable) and in easily concealable and portable units of wealth (such as jewels), you arent really tied to any one place.

A little of both . . . Britain, Australia, and the USA have supposedly seen an influx of white South Africans (some of whom were originally refugees from Rhodesia.) Some are staying there and digging in, and a certain percentage is in a state of denial, figuring "it can't happen here."

I remember a posting a while back a thread here at THR in which a person in the medical field (EMT? Surgical nurse? Not sure) in RSA claimed to not be allowed to leave the country as there was a fear he wouldn't return. Don't know if this is true or not, but would sure like confirmation & more details if it was.

All it will take is for the social and economic situation in SA to fall apart enough. The ANC will then be on the lookout for scapegoats and white land owners will be square in their sights. Disarming the scapegoats is a wise first step. But make no mistake--the hammer will fall. If I were white in SA, I'd be getting out while the getting is still good.

YOu know what they say...when it's time to bury your guns...It's time to dig them up again...

So 'training' by government edict is a good thing?

There's a gunstore owner in Indianapolis that fervently believes in mandatory gun owner 'training'. I'm sure he'd be thrilled at such an occurance as this shows since he'd have gun owners breaking down his door and boosting sales and eating up range time.

Sheesh

Yep. Register, then confiscate. That way the whites have no defense when the armed blacks arrive. Sure method of pacification.
