I am looking for a set of wooden grips for my SP-101 to replace the Hogue rubber monogrips I have on it. Does anybody have any suggestions? Also do you have any pictures of them on a SP-101? Thanks for your time.
I had replaced the factory grips (too small for me) with Hougue rubber, like them and have them on my other revolvers. Then I went with a pair of Uncle Mikes boot grips, they were OK too but then came across the wood ones.
I shot some hot load .357's through it yesterday, didn't feel bad at all. In fact I can't say they were any more uncomfortable with hot loads than the Hogues were.
hey sisco do you use your SP101 for CCW use. If you do what type of speedloader do you use? Does the grips get in the way? I'm fixing to purchase a 3" SP101 and use it for CCW use. By the way great looking gun.
If you go to the Hogue website, there are several pictures of their different wood grips on the SP.
I too wanted to change from the Hogue rubber to better looking and smoother (less grab on clothing) wood grips. So I got some Hogue Goncolo Alves, smooth, finger grip. Problem was, they ended up being too smooth for me. Just didn't feel I was getting a good enough grip when retrieving it from concealment. So the rubber grips are back on (the wood set went to a .22LR SP). As an option though, you can get the Hogue wood grips with checkered sides - this should help some. So if you like the fit and feel of the Hogue grips - there are some options.
