I recently picked up a 2" sp101 and have a windage issue with it. It shoots dead on vertically, but is 2" to the left at 15 yards.

Now rather than doing the whole have the barrel twisted to realign the sights, does Ruger (or anyone else) make front sights that are offset to their bases?

To get centered I need my front sight .015" to the left.

If not, I'm just going to trim the sight base .015" and stick a piece of shim stock into the right side between the barrel and sight.

I dont think anyone makes a barrel with an offset sight.

Honestly, this fix sounds like more trouble than its worth. The snubby is shooting a little bit off and that is normal.

You may have a problem with getting you sight to remain tight after you do that. You can do a couple things if your idea doesn't work out.

1) File the right side face of the front sight. It will be narrower, but you might like it that way. Cold blue when done.

2) Have a dovetail cut/install a dovetail front sight. Drift as needed to center. Ther are many smiths that offer dovetail services. Some specialize in the little Ruger.

3) File the rear notch to the right. It will widen the notch. Some folks like it wider. If you do this, use a safe side file to avoid cutting it deeper.

4) Use a combination of the above to split the difference, ie. remove half the desired amount from the front sight (or drift your dovetailed sight by half the distance) and file the rear notch by half the amount.

Remember always (and I know you know it, but it doesn't hurt to remind yourself) - front sight moves opposite the desired change, rear moves same.as the desired change.

Yeah, FORS
Front opposite, rear same.

I did a little more practicing with it and while it isn't horrible, it is something I definitely need to look into correcting.

Personally, i don't care if a gun is off a little up and down but the shots HAVE to be centered.

I didn't think about the pain of keeping it tight after the mod, which it definitely could be. Beyond that, I like the idea of splitting the difference in widening the rear notch and narrowing the front, but I'll start by just narrowing the front.

If I like the narrow sight, great. If not, it's only a $5 fix to get it back instead of having a modified gun.
