OKay I've been a little torn.

Help me decide.

Should I continue my hunt for a Spas 12.

Or just get a Mossberg 930 and a Mossberg 590a1.

The Mossbergs are much lighter than your Spas 12. That was the reason I stopped toting mine around. It may look cool, but after a while it's like carrying an anvil around.

I like the being able to choose between semi and pump, it is definitely a nice option. That said, I liked my M3S90 and not the spas 12. I found the spas 12 to be awkward to hold, a littler over sized in the front end. Never shot one so I can't comment on it, my impression is only from handling one for a few moments.

I have to agree with David, I liked my SPAS but the Benelli super90 M3 is by far a better shotgun and more reliable. The only way to keep the SPAS 12 reliable was to know which ammo to use in semi auto. The SPAS prefers heavy loads in semi for it to function correctly and won't cycle any birdshot in semi. The M3 super90 will spit out just about anything in semi (mine hates those cheap all plastic Activ shells).

Other then that, the SPAS is the hands down winner when it comes to looks! The thing just looks bad sitting there and I always loved shooting it one handed with the carrying handle turned sideways.:D

The spas is a collectors dream its been in so many movies.

Plus nothing beats folding down the stock while saying "Clever girl" (Jurassic park )

Or in the neggar voice I "I will take the 12 gauge autoloader"

Saiga 12. If you can find one.

Get the Mossberg 930 and a Mossberg 590a1.

On GunBroker.com, you can buy a Mossberg 930 for $311-579. You can also buy a Mossberg 590 A1 for $444.95.

I bet you can buy these 2 Mossberg shotguns for cheaper prices if you look good enough.

The Spas 12 could be from 1000-3000 dollars!-

2 is better than 1

the Mossbergs

the SPAS is like one of those 30-bladed Swiss army knives...looks cool in the display case, but who would want to actually pack one around??
:)

spas 12 looks cool but its heavy and complicated.
Once saw somebody shooting away with one he'd just brought pumping shells through it.
did not know it could auto load :)
still cool though

The SPAS looks cool. The one I handled didn't handle too well, and was overly heavy.

A 500/590 and a Saiga would be a good combo, I agree. :)

Doesn't it depend on what you want it for? If you're looking for a collector item the Spas-12 is it. If you're looking for a home defense shotgun the Mossberg 5XX works fine. Seems to me a 12ga shotgun shooting a single round of 00 buck will do just as much damage as one shooting 6 or 7 of them in a semi automatic.

i always liked the look of the franchi law-12 but don't know how good they are just thought they looked more "normal" than a spas they're semi only though and run around 600-700$ law12photo2.jpg

I vote saiga 12 too, they're great and you'd have dough left over for a good pump gun

Yup. The Mossberg for a slick car/truck gun that won't hang up on stuff should you need to quickly pull it out of the confines of a vehicle, and the Saiga for home defense.

I owned a SPAS 12 for all of 10 days pre-AWB '94. While I was the coolest kid on the block for a week and a half it was too clunky to do much with.

Get the SPAS, it's a blast...

Just make sure you get the pushbutton safety, not the flag style or you'll pay through the nose trying to find one.
