Speaking of Axis locks

A great AXIS lock BM entry model is one of the Benchmade 15020 series of Mike Waddell's 'Bone Collector' series, at 3.36" x .125" of D2, or the smaller 15030 series at 2.95" x .115" of D2, either in various G10 combination or walnut handles. The 15050 series is nice, too... but they are lockbacks.

I have a number of AXIS lock BM's - including my first-ever BM - a 551 Griptilian. Oddly, I was talking with a custom knife maker/designer some months ago at a local sharp things emporium. He asked me what I thought of the BM Griptilian... I told him I had a bunch of BM's - and the Grip was my least favorite! Yep, I stepped in it... I was talking with Repton, Alabama's Mel Pardue - Benchmade's senior designer - and the Grip's papa! He did make me a custom folder - Damascus blade & bolster, mammoth ivory scales, gold appointements, unreal filework - in exchange for a benchrest .22 (I made out!). That's a 'work of art' - I should charge admission to view it!

Stainz

I'd like to see that knife Stainz!

I have a Griptilian and a Bone Collector and can't believe how much more knife the BC is for about the same money. It's a beast!
