Has anyone loaded Speer Soft Flat Point Hot-cor for 300blk? Got them from RMR. I believe they may be more of a 30-30 bullet, it's listed on the data for 30‐30 on the Speer site. On RMRs site they say makes a great 300blk bullet and a few reviews said they have used them. Trying to find an OAL. If I crimp at the cannelure it is about the same depth in the case as my 220gr cast. Load data from Hornady vs Lyman is different. Hornady list 165-168gr being the closest data. Using IMR-4227 starting load is 11.8gr. Lyman using the same powder and 168gr bullet is 15.5gr at 1811 fps which is off the chart for Hornady. Other than that I'm not finding much data.

Seating depth is very important for the BO. Load to a deeper seating depth than a published load and pressures will be higher.

If this is for an AR, load a dummy round at the max length that fits your mags and see if they feed. If not, seat the bullet a little deeper and try again. Repeat as needed. Use the longest AOL that will feed if you can. The BO will be on the slow side for this bullet, so you may want to push it to get desired expansion.

Hodgdon has IMR 4227 data for a 168 & a 175, but they are both HPBTs. I ran these loads through Quickload and found the max charges to be more compressed than I ever got happy with (one at 108% and one at 110% fill).

Quickload says an AOL of 2.23" (0.28" seating depth) and a lightly compressed load (103%) will get just over 1800 fps from a 16" barrel and pressure will be just under 55,000 psi.

With a deep seated bullet (0.50") and 103% fill, velocity is closer to 1600 fps.

H110/296 should be able to get about 150 fps more velocity.

Without any real pressure tested load data for you bullet, you will need to carefully work your way up from starting loads.

Definitely a 30 30 bullet, load at a length that it will fit the mag and start with a minimum charge and work up. The canalure is waaay off what 300bo would use due to the huge difference in coal of the two rounds.

It's a short bullet at 1.015 inches so no problem loading it in magazines. I was worried about loading it too long. Was just looking to plink with them and run them through a suppressor. Have an AR and bolt action, so if I could get them to at least run in the bolt action it would be nice.

If you or a friend have access to QuickLoad, they now have the 170/gr Speer P/N's in there.
#2041 & 2042

I bought a bunch of these awhile ago and looked at loading them in various .308 platforms.

I have not looked at using them in my Blackout (yet).

Do not have quickloads, but as I become more involved in reloading it seems more and more tempting.
