Do you find that small gun purchases damage your ability to ge tthe bigger guns you want? For instance, I have been wanting a .50 rifle for a long time, but everytime I get money to save for a gun, I blow it on something else.

I just finished building my AR - that set me back $700.

I just bought a Mini14 on Gun Broker - Set me back $425.

How do I get this elusive rifle if I can't stop buying other guns...

I hear ya

been wanting a Sako TRG in 338 Lapua for ever, but I just keep getting sidetracked.

Yes. But my lack of financial disipline regarding gun related stuff I blame on a certain moderator around here.:D

I've decided I'm never gonna win. I'll just have to figure out how to make more money.

Funny, I was actually thinking of getting a seasonal part time job to get some more guns...:scrutiny:

I basically work 3 jobs. One full time plus a bit, one seasonal, and one part time. The wife works 2 jobs currently as well.

All her money above and beyond her car payment and her only credit card bill is discretionary. Mine is for all the other bills. Luckily, she loves me very much:D , and isn't stingy with her money!

Puh-leeze, I'm also your pro-bono accountant who's always urging you to be fiscally responsible and take care of debt. It's hard to be your gun dealer too. It really hurts me everytime you write me a big fat check. :neener:

Been looking at a registered receiver M16 for a while but I keep finding strays and adopting them... AR15, M1A, FS2000...

It wounds me to the the depths of my blackened gun-dealer's soul. BWA HA HA HA HA! (for mine is an evil laugh)

Here's an actual reenactment of me and Ben eating lunch yesterday:

Ben: Wifes sick. Gonna cost money. Trucks broke. Gonna cost money. Dogs caught on fire. Burned down the house. Woke up this morning in a tub of ice and found out that somebody had stolen one of my kidneys. Bummer, because I was going to use it to pay off those mafia loansharks that are gonna break my knee caps tonight.

Larry: Yeah, bummer. Hey, did I mention that I've got a really screaming deal on a Sig 239 down at the shop. Isn't that one of your most favoritest guns of all time? It even comes with an instruction manual and decorative plastic case.

Ben: Okay, I'll buy it... Jerk.

Larry: Cool. Now my children will be able to have bread with their gruel tonight. Easy on that Kung Pow, your body might not have adjusted to that missing kidney yet.

I lurk, far more than post here, but I just had to log in to say that this is the funniest thing that I ever recall reading on the internet. Thanks. Correia. :D

Smaller purchases do put the whammy on what you really want. Case in point, A month ago I wanted to get a new GP bolt action rifle (Howa Legacy in .308 win.) with a good scope (Nikon 4 X 40). One of my gun pushe....er, gun dealer buddys:p put a NAA revolver with the folding grip/holster under my nose at a verrry good price.....:uhoh: :scrutiny: :banghead:  . There goes part of the money for it and now HAVE to make do for the opener of general deer season with either my Lee Enfield or my Yugo SKS 59/66 or my.... well you get the idea ;) :D .

YES! I can't help but not pass up good deals on guns I didn't realize I needed or wanted and not buying guns I really had wanted. I have a mental list of guns I want some, a lot, others near bottom of list. For instance I had wanted a Kel Tec SU16 the CA model probably. But I found good deals on other guns or guns I had a hard time finding always preventing me from getting one.

Guns like a Llama Commanche .357 for $160, Beretta 1934 .380acp for $80, S&W 457s .45acp for $259, good deals all but guns I really wasn't looking for or at bottom of wish list.

Only ever got a SU16 when I lucked into one at $300. I got to stop buying "2nd tier" guns but I can't help myself if the price is right and some end up being pretty good.

I now also have the added "problem" of becoming a gunsmith. I now need all the parts (i.e. barrels, actions, stocks, etc.) to fuel my twisted imagination as I come up with new and ingenious ways to go into the poorhouse...

Definately. I haven't really got any money of late. So when my Marine friend calls me and asks me about the Delta Elite 10mm he's thinking about buying from his buddy, he can't understand why I swear at him so loud.

I keep telling him that if he's gonna buy another pistol on top of his Kimber TLE II, he'll have to forfeit one of them to me or I'll give his sister's phone number to an Army guy.

In this way, I am able to keep my friend's excess purchases in check so he can keep some money to buy a good M1A (his wish list gun) when he gets back home.

For the record-

It is not a kidney they stole. They stole my spleen.

It's ok though. I ruptured it previously helping you haul the dishka out to the truck last gun show.

They stole defective merchandise. And when they find out? I'll be ready when they try again. I threw out the tub. Now what they gonna do?

Well if it's such a burden I'll just PM my address and you can sign it over to me.

And yea I know one of those gun pusher types. I visit his shop several times a week. He put a PT 1911 in my hands Wed. and it was on its way to layaway. That Monday I was introduced to some Schofields now of course now I have 2 more weapons on my need to purchase list.

My need to purchase list

AR-30
C96 BroomHandle
Bergmann Bayard M1910/21
Walther P38
Baby Nambu

Smaller purchases don't get in the way but paying for my home insurance in Florida and property tax in the same month does very much get in the way.

I too have big problems with my local gun dealer!! He MAKES me come to his shop at least 3 or 4 times each week!! He FORCES me into handling his inventory!!Then he INSISTS that I pay for the gun that he says I MUST own!! When will the abuse end??:what: :what:
