Spent caps on nipples after the shot

Hello, just got back from making some smoke. I'm shooting a Rem. 1858 with 30-35 grains, .454 ball, lube on the 2 and 5 shot and #10 Rem. caps on Treso nipples. But the caps stay on the cylinder after the shot! About 50-70% of the time. Any insight to remedy? But all in all a great day! Thanks Dominic...

I am duplicating everything you mentioned, except I'm using .451 balls. The caps sometimes stay on the nipples for me, too, but I don't find it a problem. If mine stay on after they are fired, they seem to ride the cylinder around and can be removed when I'm reloading without any trouble. I can't remember when my Remington snagged up on a cap or cap fragments. Are you having jamming problems because of the caps or what?
