Anyone ever get their hands on one of these in the U.S. ?

I emailed the sole U.S. importer for Sphinx to see if they bring these in but I havn't heard back yet.
Alas, I'm an impatient cuss.

Judging by the prices for the Sphinx 3000 model line-up, the 380 would probably be pricey. http://www.sabredefence.com/html/what_s_new.html

It was $359. + tax
I don't know it's history but it's in nice shape.

I haven't shot it a lot but it's done fine with the different ammo I've shot.

I bought a couple more mags from CDNN Sports that came with flat bases and finger extensions.

Thanks again M2 Carbine :)
$359+tax doesn't sound bad at all.

I didn't hear anything back from sabredefence yet, but I did email a series of questions to Sphinx in the morning and got a very prompt and courteous reply from Mr. Manuel Wipf. His reply to my question of AT 380 US availablity :

"For the moment the AT .380 is not available in the US, we work on this issue."

Those 3000 series pistols sure do look nice too!

Now those are quite pricey :what:

OK.
In the mean time if there's anything you want to know or want to see if the gun will do, let me know.:)

These were once approved as an alternate off duty weapon for the NJ Correctional Officers. There was a shortage of DOA ambidextrous pistols in 380. They are built on the CZ pattern. I asked about them at their SHOT Show booth two years ago and they said they were working on it.

I just got a CDNN Sports, Inc catalog. They have new original Sphinx factory mags for $10. I'm temped to get a couple more at that price.:)

Sorry if I bring this old post alive again but I had one and like the rear end of a donkey I sold it.

I want it back, it was brand new still in box, never fired.

I have been told that the originals are not legal in the USA anymore, is this true?

Anyone know where in NM I can get one or anyplace for that matter?

J-NM

At the last show one guy had one LNIB with one mag, no box or papers, for $325. I insisted on $300 but he wouldn't budge. Now I feel like I should've bought it.:banghead:

Let me correct what I mean, in CA they are not legal. Also the original Swiss made are no long made, correct?

Since posting is this a good CCW weapon or are there better ones out there?

Sphinx still shows the AT 380-M on their European web site. They are not imported into the U.S. They are a excellent CCW. Compact, 10 round mags, good heft and balance, a Ultra smooth trigger, DAO. They are as well made as any firearm you'll find today.

Handled one at a gunshow a few years ago. Was impressed with the quality, but it just seems like an obsolete firearm to me. I think it was marked at $499.

I understand they use 11rd mags now.

GAT Guns in Dundee, IL has one that they want $499 for (like new). I think it is a cool looking little pistol, but I tried it out and I think the trigger is way heavier than it needs to be. Yes, I know DAO triggers should be heavy but this thing is extremely heavy.

They have had it on their shelf for about 6 months now, along with the $999 Colt Anaconda (excellent condition) and the $159 Jennings .22 in rough condition. On some guns they have decent prices and others they are completely out of touch with reality.

I had one for a few years. It was a beautifully built gun but at the time spare magazines were insanely expensive. Also it was quite heavy for concealed carry purposes. But a really nice gun and especially nice now that you can find mags cheap. I see these guns at my local pawnshop from time to time.

Do they have a U.S. facility that deals with warranty issues?

Are they blowback or recoil operated

Answer: No U.S. facility. Parts come from Switzerland. Fix it yourself or gunsmith.

Straight blowback operation. These guns are a derivative of the CZ82/83.

They don't really need an extractor. With the extractor out, they will cycle, extract and feed just fine.

Nice pistol. But I couldn't hit anything with it. With Hirtenberger ammo.
