hi all, i bought a d-fender d ring for my spikes m4 and when i opened it up to install it i see there is what looks to be a form of the d-fender already installed? I think it is what they call a mil-spec vitton o ring. Its just a little hard rubber circle on the extractor spring, so the question is do i take this ring off and put the d-fender on? whats the deal here?

You leave the existing o ring in there, and throw the D-Fender into your spare parts drawer. When the existing o ring wears out, you pull it out, and install the D-Fender that you have in your spare parts drawer.

Not trying to be a smart rear-end, but that's exactly what I'd do. Spikes is known for making good stuff so I'd leave it be if you're not having extraction problems.

I got the "upgrade" springs and o-rings from Bravo Company. Since I started using those springs, I haven't needed the o-rings at all. Just FYI.
