Does anyone know about this gun? The model number is PX9105ML.

It has a rail, and an olive drab frame and black slide.

What does MC stand for?

Does anyone have photos of this?

How much is a fair price for one?

Why does the Remington 870 Marine Magnum use that word too?

I don't know.

Internet rumor and conjecture would have you believe that Springfield had a chance at an arms contract, but who knows.

Marketing alone maybe? I don't know.

I do know that Operators are sweet machines.
Did you come across one for sale?

The remingto 870 Marine magnum is talking about Marine as in water it is Stainless so it is supposed to better suited for boating and what not. Here is a guess the MC operator is SA attempt to compete with kimber's warrior for the MC contract the contract was awarded to kimber and springfield marketed the operator to civilians?

MC -- Marine Corps
This particlular 1911 was Springfield's entry in the USMC trials several years ago that were never completed
As for the Marine Magnum -- A highly durable 12-gauge utility gun that resists corrosion on land or water. Use to be a stainless steel barrel & receiver

I could have sworn that the new MARSOC units carry a 1911 now, as a Marine myself I should probably know this

A google search found this thread on the USMC contract. Apparently Kimber was only temporary, but SA got the gig, but no mention of the Operator model, rather the Pro.
The link to the article no longer works, but 1911Tuner seemed to know the story.
Maybe internet rumor and conjecture isn't always wrong.

I paid $1,000 for mine. I got it from Bud's Gun Shop. I liked it , it was very accurate. I recommend putting an 18.5lb recoil spring in it though, I had some issues of it not going into full battery after chambering a round. Other than that , it is an awesome pistol. I traded mine, and wish that I didnt.
I read that it was a copy of the modified 1911s that are being issued to MEU marines, but that was just what I found on the internet.

I guess, LG, that would depend on how much you shoot 45 opposed to how much you shoot 223.

The SA is a great gun - my only beef with this particular pistol is the two-tone with green finish. I have found that the extra weight of the rail - actually the full length is my preference - takes some getting used to, but it sure helps soak up recoil.

And if you are going to use the rail for a light as designed - that also takes some getting used to. I have used both a Surefire and an M6 on mine.

You may want to check out Hilton Yam's site. There's two good articles on this page: 10-8 Performance - the Lightrail Resource and Choosing a 1911 for Duty Use - that you might find helpful.

All that being said, make your best deal.

my thoughts are, "DO IT". the AR craze will slow down and prices will drop a little. That MC will keep its value. sooner or later you can find another AR priced low enough that you will buy it. how often do you see that Springfield at a price that is reasonable. If you get it and don't want it cause it two toned, I'll trade you a Kimber TLE/RL II all blued for it:D
