I want one of these in the 4" model. I like the 4" .40 model as it is. Amazing thing though: the .45 acp version has 13 rd. mags while the .40 version has only 12. Maybe they can start designing 14 rounders or something. Yeah, right....
He means it goes bang everytime you pull the trigger . .. .throws all it's brass into a small pile in exactly the same place and shoots really nice tight groups (assuming the shooter does his part)
Yep, that's what I mean by "boring". Goes bang when you pull the trigger, eats all the ammo I've thrown at it. Wolf, +P loads, LRN, JHP, you name it, it chews it up and spits the brass into a nice pile. I've not needed the "tap-rack-bang" with this pistol. Almost 1k rds now, not one issue. My only "complaint" was/is the trigger take-up is a bit long. I don't notice it during tactical matches, though so I'm hesitant to have the trigger job done. The XD45 is definately a lot of bang for the buck. I liked the XD platform enough to pick up the XD9 in OD green. You will not be disappointed.
I have a XD9 subcompact that is my workhorse carry gun and i have NO complaints whatsoever. Unfortunately (well maybe not) when it came to buying my first .45 i tried both the XD45 and a 1911 and i walked away with 1911. Nothing wrong with the XD its just the 1911 felt better in my hand.
Yes for XD9, .40 vs .45 cost difference is not that great if at all. Midway has Magtech .45ACP 230gr FMJ for $9.49/50 and .40 S&W 180gr $10.99/50. Not a comprehensive comparison, but you get point. As for performance of the round...well let's not go there I think the 40 has a "snappier" or sharper recoil than the .45. XD9 and XD40 are fine pistols, although the finish might not be as tough as the XD45.
Not necessarily, as it depends on many factors including the load
used in each caliber, range (distance from target), weapon used,
and individual's characteristics ( stance, sight picture, breath
control, proper grip, and trigger control). Actually, I find the XD
.45 ACP to be quite accurate; equal too that of any "combat
firearm"~!
bigcim, here's the 9mm vs XXX thread. This discussion could go on for a very long time. You will get all kinds of opinions on this issue. My bottom line is I think most people don't want to be shot no matter what caliber. 9mm, 40, .45, 38, even 22lr are lethal. I guess a lot depends on your use of the round. For target shooting, the cheaper the ammo the more you can shoot for your dollar. For defense, well that's a lot of personal preference and what you can shoot best. It's much better to hit CoM with 2 well placed 9mm than to miss with several 40 or .45's if you have trouble shooting these calibers.
