I just got a nice Springer Mil Spec package that came with the plastic grips in the box and the factory wood grips mounted (these are the newer grips that have 'Springfield Armory' engraved on them); I had a helluva time removing them (for cleaning purposes) and I buggered the one on the right side that has the recess for the ambidextrous safety lever...:banghead:
I ended up cracking off some of the wood that covers the recess by using using a small screwdriver and prying in the groove (the grips are 'usable', but I would like to avoid this from happening again when I get a replacement cocobolo grip set)
how do I safely remove VERY TIGHT grip panels from a 1911 frame without damaging the grips?!?
