So I am thinking of getting a used Long Slide. I know nothing about these. A guy is selling one for 750. It is stainless and has only nominal wear from about 1,200 rounds through it.

Any issues with these models? Anything to look out for when I check it out? Is that a fair price?

I have the opportunity to fire before I buy and it includes extras like cleaning kit, hearing protection (those ear muff kind) etc.

Does it strip down like a normal 1911? I haven't seen one in person yet. I appreciate your help. I'm a long slide newbie.

I'm amazed that no one has answered you in this. I've always wanted one of these, and suspect that they break down like any 1911. I'd wonder if it has the two piece barrel, but most folks seem to have not had problems with them. Is the one you are looking at ported? The 16V I think it's called?

I'd probably buy one with the price and specs you found, it'll be worn out when you fire it 100 times as many rounds as it's had.

I've been looking at the long slides and if I could find a deal like that I'd jump on it. I think the guide rod is a two-piece job so that means you need an allen wrench to take it apart.

Its going for 800.

Still seems like a decent deal from what I've researched.

If you look you can find them at that price - just not always "down the street"

I like mine - bought it used and it had been to the range maybe once or twice - the rest of its life was in the case - didn't run well at all initially - basic cleaning and lube and it still stove piping or not loading the round completely - tried different ammo - just not running well at all -

so, complete disassembly and everything got a bath in the parts washer - oiled it back up - put it back together - runs like a top. Tight slide to frame fit - accuracy is good - I like it - I like the longer sight picture - fun to shoot. :)

Two piece guide rod is a pain and this is not my favorite weapon to clean - but I have gotten faster over time dealing with this set-up.
