Springfield Armory customer service

Friend of mine has an XD-9, which he likes. I think it is a solid gun. SA claims lifetime warranty. Has anyone sent XD to Springfield Armory for service/refinish? The gun saw ~1000 or so rounds and was carried in a holster. I wonder if they refinish the gun under warranty, like Glock does. My friend is an original owner, but what if I buy the gun from him? Will it cost a lot to refurb it? I do not have any experience with Springfield CS.

I took mine apart to clean it and promptly lost a spring from inside the slide. :banghead:

I think it went into a time warp or a black hole.

I called to order a new one. They said they do not sell XD parts, but just send them the slide and they would put a new one in, no charge. Hard to beat that.

I love those guys, they will let you pick there brain for hours! Springfield customer service is the best! To refinish though I would check out http://www.springerprecision.com/
They are great at refinishing! (and it's harder than the melonite treatment on the original!!!)

So the finish is definately covered in the warranty? Even holster wear?

Warranty work & after market stuff. .... I used them 1 time for a new 1911. They were excellent. Fairly quick turn around. Communication was great. The work they did was done correctly the first time. A real pleasure to deal with. I'd buy another SA without hesitating.

i sent mine in for a broken trigger bar. i hinted that the finish was looking bad, which i really don't mind, but i really wanted the better looking and all around armory kote on there, and btw it looks sexy. the sexiest xd i have ever seen. anyway they fixed the trigger bar, refinished the slide and parts free of charge and i had them install a set of trijicon night sights which they did for cost. i was very happy and another reason that i am a huge sa loyalist.
