IL: Springfield Armory May Leave State, Too.

I posted recently about how Les Baer is leaving Illinois (now confirmed) because of the foolish, liberal, feel good anti-gun legislation coming out of the statehouse. ArmaLite is also considering leaving. These exits are the result of many years of threatened draconian gun control legislation but were lately spurred by an AWB (”assault weapons ban”) bill and another, a limit on magazine capacity moving swiftly through the current state legislature and that assuredly will be signed by the Governor. These bills not only prohibit the sale of such items but the manufacture of them as well.

My precious state tax dollars going to put more people on welfare, which the Dummycrats love!

They've been threatening this for years. If Illinois does pass these AWBs and magazine bans, etc, then I say "good for them." Let IL feel the sting of an economic slump, and a major reduction in tax revenue.

If SA moves to a new location, then my M1A stamped "Springfield Armory, Illinois" becomes an instant collector's item too. Win-win. It'll also give me an excuse to buy a new one, stamped with whatever location to which they decide to move.

A couple weeks ago I was on the phone with SA customer service as I was placing an order for some XD mags just in case SB1007 passes. I asked the customer service rep if he knew anything about the rumor that the company would move if the bill passed the House. He didn't sound too optimistic about the situation. It's too bad but I can't say that I blame them one bit.

IL: Springfield Armory May Leave State, Too.

Old news.

If you're an Illinois citizen, have you called your rep yet? I posted a link in the THR activism forum for contact information for all the IL reps.

I did a bunch of calling yesterday, and the impression I got was that call volume on this was real high. The number of collar country Republicans whose offices told me that they were going to vote no cheered me. This is far from lost.

Call your rep, at least. Turn up the heat.

You too? Pistolgear.com, $20 each. And every AK magazine I can swing.

How many think Springfield Armory, Illinois stamped M1A's will gain value from this?

I am constantly amazed by the 2nd Amendment product manufacturers who continue to reside in states like NY, Ill, MA, etc. And they give tax dollars to those same states who are trying to sue them out of existence.

I, often, only want to buy weapons made, or their company is based in, a free state.

I, also, am amazed by pistol manufacturers who do business with government entities who are sueing them at the same time. Insanity.

I hope Springfield and Armalight move to Iowa, they can all be in the same town together.

Wouldn't that make for one SAFE town, with Les Baer? Heck I'd even consider moveing to that town, even in Iowa. (no offence to Iowa, I was born and raised in MN)

And the Gov of Iowa can thank the Gov of Illinois for giveing him more economic growth.

Instead of makeing life hard on the gun manufacture, why don't we make life harder on the criminial?

I actively call and write my reps and I don't believe this is a lost cause either. I hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

If Companies such as Springfield Inc. and citizens like myself, just get up and run when the going gets tough then all is lost.
These States are no longer United and we have individual Feifdoms.

Goddamn all those that try to limited even more Constitutionally guanteed rights of the free and, trying to be, law abiding citizenry.

I would love to have ANY gun manufacture out here on the west coast. We happen to have a lot of outdoor companies many related but no gun companies. We do however have

1.Leatherman knives
2. Gerber Knives
3. Leupold Scopes
4. Crimson Trace laser grips

thats all I can think of but we need a gun company, then I could build and "Oregon" gun with a leupold scope and a CT laser grip.

That has to be one of the smartest comments yet.
