The SA-35 is a great Hi Power. Mine has a better trigger than any BHP I've owed (3) or shot over the past 50+ years. With over 1000 rounds through it, I have yet to have a malfunction, and that includes handloaded LSWC bullet types as well as factory FMJ & JHPs.
While some owners early on, reported problems with the extractor/ejectors, I have had no problems....I purchased it in Sept. of 2023 and it has a serial number of 28,xxx. At that time, the KY Gun Co. in Louisville had six of them in the shop and I got to handle/dry fire them all. The final choice was difficult as they all had excellent triggers and tight tolerances. Good QC....
On mine, the fit and finish are good and functional. The sights are first rate for carry or target, and the accuracy is outstanding, comparable in fact to several of my gunsmith tweaked 1911's. The safety is positive, and in a position easily accessed during the draw movement. Mine prefers 124 gr weight bullets of both LSWC and factory ammunition by a small margin over the more easily found 115 grainers. I have not tried it with 147 gr weights however.
The lead alloy rounds in the pic below are both ~124 gr weight, conicals and LSWC's from Missouri Bullet Co., and of excellent quality. My best full house hand loads using Blue Dot or BE-86 with them will keep 5 shots in less than 2.5" at 25 yds from a rest. For light target use, Bullseye does as well. The holster in the pic is a well worn Bianchi Askins Avenger from 15-20 years ago...a nice rig for high on the belt CC use.
My one and only less than enthusiastic comment on it is in regards to the factory stocks. I find them a bit too thick through the mid section for my taste, and replaced them with Hogues. See pic below. All in all, I'm an unabashed fan...hope yours works out as well. Best regards, Rod
